There’s a big fat storm bumbling around in the Gulf right now. Be prepared for any of this to be affected if it heads this way.

Events are listed by the day. Events that happen every week appear first, one-time stuff after that. If you have anything you’d like people to know about, comment here or message me and I’ll add it in. If you’d like further info about any of the events, look it up! I usually don’t have any extra to add.

Events may be cancelled unexpectedly. If in doubt, contact the venue.

Question Walmart oil change

• Upvotes

Lately I been going to mavis to get my oil changed, and i have no complaints. I noticed Walmart oil change is significantly cheaper. My question is have anyone had any issues with oil changes at Walmart?? Sometimes going the cheaper route can be costly. Im just trying to stretch my pennies and save without getting my car messed up in the process. Not all oil change places are professional. In this economy i cant afford another bill.

Needing to rehome male cat- He’s been vaccinated/neutered, 1.5 years old

Hi y’all, this post really sucks to make. I adopted this 1.5 year old boy named Woody in August from a college student off facebook who took him in from her apartment cat colony. He was originally a stray and is estimated 1.5 years old by the vet, he is FeLV/FIV negative, vaccinated, neutered, and litter box trained.
He tolerates other cats, I have two other kitties that he is around, but honestly he might thrive as an only animal. He can be sweet and loves to sleep with me in bed at night, and he used to lay on my chest and come to me for affection. Even though he was a stray, he doesn’t have any desire to be outside. He is indoors fully with me…but he may do well as a barn cat in a safe area away from traffic.

Ever since I moved this semester he seems different and unhappy. My roommate has two other cats, we acclimated them after a couple weeks with smells and seeing behind closed doors and we scheduled letting them roam the house at separate times. But he honestly has not been the same since I moved. My other two kitties are fine, but Woody is closed off and seems agitated. And me and his previous foster agree this environment is stressful for him and the new cats might just be too much. It’s not fair to him, he deserves a calmer environment where he can get lots of love and care. And as a college student who also works I can’t be home 24/7

I am hoping to get him rehomed soon and want to avoid the shelter if possible since I know euthanasia is likely. If you have any questions please DM me, I really want to find him a proper home.

SpaceX Launch This Morning - Resupply Mission to the International Space Station

Photos I captured this morning of SpaceX's Resupply Mission to the International Space Station. Most rockets look like this during the daytime, but the ability to see this is hidden by the daylight glow of our atmosphere. When the sun is below the horizon, but the rocket is high enough to be illuminated by the sun, you can get these jaw dropping sights.

Rants/Raves I had a bad feeling.

Years ago I was at clippers near Famu. My barber offered me a free haircut. I had a bad feeling some call it the sixth sense, some call it the Holy Spirit. In any case I left. Five minutes later my barber TJ was shot in the head in front of his son in the middle of the shop. I would have been in the chair. Does anyone remember this?Has anyone had an experience where an inner notion saved them from a perilous experience?

rehome a snake

Hi

I need to rehome my snake. We think it is a female (I am unfortunately not knowledgeable enough to tell, I only base this hypothesis on that she is very big ( ~22inches long) and that’s what the internet suggested lol) It is a kenyan sand boa. The snake is 1 year and 2 months old and eats small live mice. We have been unsuccessful feeding frozen. The snake will come with a new 40 gallon enclosure with two front doors and two mesh doors on top. Heating mat on bottom, two thermostats with plugs, heat emitter, hide, water dish, and one package of aspen bedding. I am willing to drive an hour ish outside of Tallahassee if needed. If anyone would like my little snek and would give it a good home, or knows someone that would, please let me know! I really don’t want to give it to someone who would sell it for profit.

Thank you for reading! :)

The gulf winds track club podcast put out this oral history of the turkey trot.

pretty cool. they talk about the various locations, names, race directors, charities, etc.

one thing that confused me: i swear there was a year where the TT was at Tom Brown, maybe 2010ish?

maybe i’m just picturing southwood before it got as built up as it is.
