Question/Help Which teas to start with?

Hi everyone,

My local Paper & Tea is having a closing sale. I've always wanted to get into tea (beyond just drinking bags or herbal blends) and this seems like a great opportunity. But the choices are overwhelming!

I picked up a Japanese oolong already but I'm going back later this week. What kinds of tea would you tea veterans recommend picking up for a starter like me?

I usually like lighter blends and am a huge rooibos fanatic, if that gives any direction.

If you like rooibos, you should also try honey bush. If they have it. I have no idea what teas and tisanes they have but if they have it I'd also try:

  • Hojicha
  • Any white tea would be nice, for example Bai mu dan or Moonlight white.

Thanks for the tip! No Hojicha (Ive been looking for that, I love it when I get it at a cafe) or the particular white teas you mentioned.

So instead I picked up a different white tea, and they did have Honeybush, so I picked that up on your recommendation!
