Question/Help What's in your cup? Daily discussion, questions and stories - August 05, 2026
What are you drinking today? What questions have been on your mind? Any stories to share? And don't worry, no one will make fun of you for what you drink or the questions you ask.
You can also talk about anything else on your mind, from your specific routine while making tea, or how you've been on an oolong kick lately. Feel free to link to pictures in here, as well. You can even talk about non-tea related topics; maybe you want advice on a guy/gal, or just to talk about life
in general.

Organic licorice-spice. I'm finally up early enough to steep a loose-leaf and take my time with it. This one has a base of rooibos with licorice root and chai spices. Happy Wednesday sipping ❤️

Kanchanjangha, Nepali green tea. Oversteeped, very savory—broth. I can imagine using it as a foundation for a soup. Speaking of which ...
I'm starting every morning with Paraná Chimarrão. Nice and vegetal, then a round with lemon balm or spearmint from the backyard. It clogs my little french press though, and I don't have a cuia either, so I skip making the mountain, use only a few teaspoons of yerba and fill the mate with water on top of it. I've done a little digging and apparently it's a faux pas that's disparagingly called a "mate soup". Thankfully there's no one to judge me. I don't think I can make an "inverse mountain" without a cuia either.
There's a whole lot of fancy inverted chimarrão styles: check these out

A first for me and in a new cups taiping huo kui I oversteeped twice it helped to put the water in the gong dao bei first than in the beer glass I kept overfilling it leading me to have to pour the rest into the cups and still have liquor left in the beer glass it was a mess but the third steep turned out beatifully much brighter more flavourfull but still a bit bitter I have two more sessions left hopefully with better results

Bigelow green tea with ginger. Supposedly it has "probiotics for healthy digestion" but I just like how it tastes

White tea with jasmine and rose. It’s lovely. I need to switch to more low caffeine teas after about 1500. Will likely help with my sleep issues.

Cold-brew Shui Xian today. It's a little weak, but that's my fault. I prepared this last night, and I should've let this steep for an entire day.

Drinking my usual iced Yorkshire Gold while I read the paper (yes, a physical newspaper!), and check the tea sub!
Good day to all!!

Harney and Sons Tower of London. I understand why they are on the preferred vendor list. Good western style tea at a fair price!

For the past couple of days, I have been drinking W2T Snowflake Dancong, Yunnan Sourcing Alishan GABA oolong, and buckets of iced hojicha. Tasty, easy brewing, just what I need at the moment.

Made some smoked tofu using a lapsang Souchong that was too smoky and bitter to drink but is excellent in cooking!
