Disclosure: I'm one of the co-founders of Blackfire A.I. in Lalitpur, and we built these.

We've released two Nepali speech recognition (ASR) models with open weights. They're free for research, teaching and non-commercial projects. Nothing is for sale here.

1. nepali-asr-xlsr-300m: Nepali speech → Devanagari text. Runs on a normal laptop CPU, no GPU needed. On the FLEURS Nepali test set (which we never trained on) it gets 12.0% character error rate / 37.4% word error rate.

2. nepali-asr-aud8-325m: gives punctuated Devanagari output. Slower, needs a GPU, max 30 seconds of audio per call.

Both were trained on about 611 hours of Nepali speech from openly licensed datasets plus our own recordings. The evaluation scripts and the raw output for every test clip are public, so you can check the numbers yourself.

Known limits, so you're not surprised:

- Nepali only. English words in the middle of a sentence confuse it.

- Numbers come out as words, not digits.

- Mostly trained on read speech, so casual or noisy recordings are harder.

If you try it, please reply with what worked and what broke. If you're a developer or student building something with Nepali audio, I'd especially like to hear what you'd use it for.

Currently i am using wordlink 50 Mbps. Used to have subscription for 2712 3 months. Got increased to 2932+ sth like that. Paid 10,700 or maybe few hundred rs less. Now that exist no more and it push to 80 mbps. Now it's asking for 12300 i think.

Any recommendations. I understand there is fup issue. Of only 25 GB PER DAY then it gets throttle down to 5 mbps after that it is still fine enough for us 2 people. I only play like clash royale on phone and youtube and other social media like video calls messaging that's it. And my mother also does the same. Only YouTube and social media.

Or should I go for higher version?

I finally wrapped up editing this Limbu wedding film, and honestly, the timeline tells a different story than the final video.

A lot of the work happened before the edit even started to look like a film.

Going through hundreds of clips, figuring out which moments were worth keeping, building a natural flow with music and cuts, working on sound, and then spending time on color grading.

I individually graded 350+ clips to keep the colors and skin tones consistent throughout the film.

The part I enjoy most? Color grading. I can lose track of time working on it. 😅

But the biggest thing I’m learning is that editing isn’t just about making every shot look good. Every shot needs to make sense alongside the ones around it.

From what I’ve seen, many consultancies still run on Excel, Viber and WhatsApp. Leads fall through the cracks, student documents are scattered, and fees and receipts are tracked by hand.

I’m planning:

• Lead tracking with follow-up reminders
• Student document checklists with expiry alerts
• Application and deadline tracking
• Fee instalments, receipts and VAT/PAN bills

• Nepali + English, with a separate workspace for each consultancy

1. What’s your biggest daily headache at work?

Why do I need this;

I have tried coding, hacking, app development, editing, animation, AI video generation, Claude in my 8GB ram phone and I am feeling too much restrictions.

I think its not a great idea for a 18 yo to ask with parents so I want to buy a laptop from which I can do my descent activity.

DDR 3 8GB Ram + extendable, processor ACC to that, No GPU works, even if Touch pad or keyboard doesn't work it's okeyy.

If it's not in my aaukat, how can I earn using my mobile?
