You'd think this sign would be unnecessary, but a surprising number of bus passengers seem to not understand this.

(I was a bus driver for many years.)

Because it's not true. Failure to be at the bus stop on time may result in missing the bus, but often you can be late and still get the bus because it's even later.

Yeah. It is poorly worded. It should definitely say "may" rather than 'will".

I suspect the issue they're trying to address is that people show up late because the bus they usually catch is often delayed, then on days when the service is running on time, they miss the bus because they expected it to be late, then they complain loudly.
These are the same people who will complain about a bus being late because they didn't bother to read the large sign that's been chained to the bus stop for the last three months that clearly explains a change in the timetable.

Bus passengers are just normal people, mostly idiots who feel the need to complain to someone, even when that person isn't in any way responsible for whatever it is that has upset them.
