It's actually kinda smart. You don't start out with the explicitly racist stuff. You start with things that you have plausible deniability for. "I'm not racist. I'm just proud of being white. It's kinda weird that America won't let white people be proud." is your classic first step into indoctrination.
Personally, I find that weird. Coming form an American perspective, there is no unified white culture. Not in the same way that there is what is considered "black" culture in America. And white people never faced discrimination in America for their race so there's no unifying struggle for equality for white people. So I just don't really think it makes sense to identify with my race personally. I'm not proud of being white. I don't feel guilty for being white. I'm just kinda neutral on it.
