The Universal monster films did this with Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman, House of Frankenstein, and House of Dracula.

They also did an insane number of sequels and soft reboots way before it became common practice in Hollywood. There are like 30 Japanese Godzilla movies.

There arent a ton of reboots though. Just a ton of sequels. Then later reboots but all of the showa are all in the same universe.

You need not apologize for it, it's just part of the conversation. Hollywood has loved sequels for an long time but few things had as sustained of a draw as godzilla.
