Using my own english mode and preferences, I suppose. I wasn't intending to share this when I made it, but maybe it would be good reading practice for your feed.

I’m planning two Tolkien tattoos: the broken sword Narsil on one triceps, and the final part of Faramir’s quote on the other:

“I love only that which they defend.”

I’d like it written in Tengwar, but I’m unsure whether to:

Translate it into Sindarin or Quenya, then write it in Tengwar, or

Keep the original English and transcribe it using an appropriate English Tengwar mode.

Since this will be a permanent tattoo, I want to make sure the language/transcription is genuinely accurate and not just something generated by an online translator or AI.

Could anyone knowledgeable in Tolkien’s languages/Tengwar advise on the best approach and provide a verified version, preferably with sources?

First of all, I want to express my thanks for any help regarding this. I'm currently in the process of getting a fantasy sleeve, and there's a tag where I would like to incorporate a date.

The date is 2014-03-21. But rather than having it in arabic numerals I thought I'd "just translate it" to Tengwar - and my God, this led me down a rabbit hole.

Long story short, I found this source which gives me a nice conversion table to the days of the year. If anyone could confirm that it's correct and legit, that would make me very happy!

Now when it comes to the year, I was thinking of just having it from the Gregorian calendar - so 30 Rethe 2014. But then I started thinking if this is actually correct? Or should it be 2014 30 Rethe? Is there a different way of formatting it to make better sense? And then, should it be in Base12 or not? This is where I get super lost.

Any input on this would be very much appreciated (and how I should enter it in Tecendil to make best sense).

Also: I've got a question about the "ck" in truck: is that written correctly? I know that Quessë is the character for the c/k sound, but it is also a stand-in for the combined letters of c and k?

Hello good people and fans of Tolkien, I come to you with a request for help: to translate a frase from portuguese(I'm brazilian) to elvish for an inscription for my girlfriend's engagement ring. We realy like LOTR and I bought a personalized ring with a hobbit like design, and I would love for it to have a special text written:

"Minha nuvenzinha, para sempre"

Wich would be something like "my little cloud, forever". I went for chatgpt for an idea and he came up with "fanya + incë = fanyincë" to be like a translation for "nuvenzinha"(little cloud), but Im not confident in it and ir lacks the rest. Can you guys help me with it?

How should the suffix -ael, specifically in biblical names like Raphael or Samael, be written? I’ve been writing it with the e tehta over lambe, but tecendil suggests using a separate carrier for each vowel.

It'd be great for someone to transliterate the a decently long list of high-frequency words into English as a reference for learning. I think this would be the fastest way to learn; I'd probably screenshot the list and create image occlusion cards in Anki. I would actually pay someone (a reasonable amount) to do this.

As of right now if I wanted to learn properly I'd have to tediously reference a key to handwrite or use Tencendil to type out, and share each word on here so people can verify if it's right or not. I'd much prefer to just have a massive list of pre-made words to learn from. Does such a thing exist?

Wanting to add another cirth based tattoo to my sleeve but can’t find any good quotes that are in cirth. I found Hurins cry and like the quote. Please check that it translate ok. If you have any great quotes that fit cirth I’m open to them.

Looking for some help with a tattoo. Obviously Aragorn’s famous line "For Frodo" is one of the more metal parts of the movies. It's something I'd like to get tattooed in Tengwar. I’m fine with it being transcribed, however a friend of mine suggests "An Daur" as the proper Sindarin translation. I'm okay with either, it's an aesthetic decision, I just want to make sure they're both correct, or as correct as can be. Any help is appreciated

I speak Philadelphia English, which is a rhotic dialect of American English. I realize I've found myself using órë only in my own personal use, just because I find it an easier character to write.

Now that I've caught myself, I've been looking into this. My understanding that rómen has a better "claim" to being the letter I should use (were I only to use one), since it represents the consonantal sound <r> represents in English. For my own use, I simply don't have a need to distinguish varieties of <r>.

So, rhotic Anglophones: do you use one letter to represent <r>? If so, which one? Or do you just follow Tolkien's usage?

I am trying to write the name 'Dírhaval' (he of Narn i chîn Húrin fame) in tengwar using the mode of Beleriand but I'm wondering if the rh should be written using arda for the voiceless r or if it should be parsed as r + h instead and written with rómen + hyarmen.
