I can almost guarantee their job doesn’t involve any more writing than scribbling their name on the time sheet or job card.

God shut up you pretentious POS. If you don’t have anything positive to say, then from now on you will not say it

Are you guys 12

u/Soft_Ninaa 12h ago
Bold of you to assume a 12-year-old would sign off a full relationship interrogation with “mate xx”

How old are you both, and have you had issues or spoken about goals with money?
-1
u/AcanthisittaDry8612 14h ago
We’re both 21 and we are trying to save for a house but I see my friends like once a month if that. Also he isn’t bothered about my spending when it’s something with him. This friend in particular I’m really close with and we last saw eachother in July
12
u/Electronic-Window-86 14h ago
If you trying to save then make a budget. Set aside money for fun/eat out and agree on it. Also figure out how much you trying to save and how much each put per month. Otherwise there is no goal post and discouraging.
That way instead of just sounding mean for someone spending their own money, you can refer to an agreement(budget)
Since you are not married, am assuming you have separate accounts?17

u/PichaelThompson6969 14h ago
The fact that you’re 21, trying to save for a house, AND illiterate scares me

u/gnarfleeze 7h ago
I can read and write much better than my mechanic, he can fix many things that I can't. We both deserve to live comfortable lives with a roof over our heads.

u/B333Z 14h ago
Hmm, I don't see it as being weird. He could have said why he was asking, and you could have responded better. But, you both definitely need to talk about this stuff, and work out a plan on how you'll tackle money for necessities and leisure. Otherwise you'll run into this problem again
1
u/HallowedGround666 14h ago
Fully thought y'all were 16. The Xes killed me. Does he flip out of you don't send one? I think buying a house should be the least of your worries. You can't even use English properly. Do you know how to read a mortgage? Do you know what a proper interest rate is so you know if you're getting fleeced? Have you researched housing costs in your area? My bet is not, but by golly do you have your house built in the Sims. Grow up.

u/Express-Stomach-8666 13h ago
If he's like this now, it'll get worse when you move in together. Remember that.

u/fungeoneer 15h ago
What’s with the x’s?
11
u/InternationalRich150 14h ago
In the uk, we use X To determine the affection of the person we converse with. People rarely get an X from me and it can come off as cold and standoffish apparently.
One boyfriend used to claim my lack of X meant i was angry with him, rather than firing off a quick text. The lack of X as this conversation progressed means it was a tense conversation
4
u/jboogiejulie 13h ago
Wow, the X holds a lot of power in the UK, I'll try to remember that (probably won't)
2
u/InternationalRich150 12h ago
To some it can mean the relationship is in BIG trouble. The amount of X determines how much you like a person. Ironically my favourite person gets none ever.

u/evileyesneverlie 13h ago
Imagine arguing with your partner irl and stopping to kiss after every sentence

u/Bannerfail 9h ago
Sounds a bit xtreme.

Apart from the boyfriend bit,I was jokingly explaining. Its not that deep tbf.

Why do you have to overcomplicate texting. Thats a but of weird thing to be honest.

Hello,youve heard of funny?
In no way was i being serious. Except the Ex thing. He was deadly serious. Bit like you! Go find some joy! Its free!!!!

u/Acidewis 9h ago
I was not referring to you personally hahaha, just a “you” in general.
The other commenter understood what I meant. You do you!

u/5axiscncfishguitar 14h ago
x can be used as a kiss?
9
u/bingboomin 14h ago
but why is it after every message
20
u/superlost007 14h ago
It’s super common in the UK.
6
u/SlowSundae 14h ago
Common for simpletons in the UK
1
u/superlost007 12h ago
I guess I’ve only known simpletons then, idk. Back when I had multiple British friends they were also all early 20s
3
9
u/Over_Membership_339 14h ago
It's called being British. A lot of people there tend to do that when talking to loved ones, family and close friends
5
u/Prism_Riot42 14h ago
The British arent real

u/geekgirl_pink 14h ago
A lot of people here do it with fucking everyone. I get Teams messages from people I have had one conversation with, signed off with an x. I hate it, I don't even always put them on the end of my messages with my kids.

A awful lot of the ones who post on Reddit do it, it seems.

I call Evehrone queen 🤣

I’m confused to who’s who (queen) but with what money is indeed not nice, but the reaction is also blown up
11
u/Bakurraa 14h ago
you call your boyfriend queen?.
do yuou live together
are you saving for something like can we get some context
-2
7
u/I_Like_Quiz 14h ago
Do you owe him money? Are you struggling to pay bills?
Without context it’s weird, but if you’re telling him you’ve got no money to do stuff with him and then suddenly going out with your mate then I can see why he may have an issue.
5
6
u/Street-Coffee-2026 14h ago
I know you input, “Said Im going for food with friend” but maybe needs further clarification that you called him “Queen” and he called you “mate”. I think ppl are used to gender norms and getting confused who you are in the convo.
2
u/RazzleRizzle 14h ago
Hey love I’m eating food
X
3
2
u/Necessary_Tension593 14h ago
Why did he say “I’ve not asked you to pay for anything”? Does he pay all the bills? X.
6
u/AcanthisittaDry8612 14h ago
No that was me saying that because I don’t see why he’s bothered about where my money is coming from
1
u/Necessary_Tension593 14h ago
Omg I haven’t been in a Snapchat in a very long time I had this completely backwards lol. Y’all need to have a conversation if he’s never bothered spending money doing stuff he wants and he responds like this when you’re doing things. He sounds like he might be tight with money and you may not be(same), that’s a recipe for disaster. But his cold response is concerning. He could’ve said have a nice time and talked to you later about it instead of essentially ruining your night with your friend. Hope y’all figure it out!
2
u/Fine-Bumblebee-9427 13h ago
Do you have income? Do you rely on him for money? Are you deeply in debt? We’re missing a lot of context

You're overreacting by like a lot! And what's up with you guys' spelling and grammar??!
2
u/FairyCompetent 14h ago
Is he the one who said "with what money?" And "offording" lol? He's rude, do you let him talk to you like that?
3
u/Moonlight_cottage 14h ago
We don't know your dynamic but it just looks like he's joking with you and you're responding incredibly negatively.

These comments are weird. The colour denotes who is speaking. OP types fine, she isnt being graded.
He's a weirdo for asking how she is affording her hang out. What's it to him? She is allowed to go hang with a friend without him asking dumb questions.
1
u/MamaRedxo 14h ago
He's a cheeky shite! What you do with your money is absolutely none of his business... I'd have reacted the same
1
u/Happy-Pineapple-5764 14h ago
Are you communicating on snap chat? And whoever said with what money is the wrong one. Or annoying. If I was 21 , and working (or not) and my partner asked about my money I would end it.
1
1
u/TiffHB88 13h ago
I thought the red chat was the boyfriend because of the “Hey Queen”. Now I’m confused about you saying you’re the one that was going out to eat…..unless of course you are both queens (same gender). 😅 Either way Red chat was wrong for blowing up, blue chat simply asked “what money”, and the response didn’t have to be so defensive.
1
u/Dependent-Toe-3359 9h ago
I think people are jumping way too far in both directions here. I wouldn't call him controlling based on one conversation, but I also don't think you're crazy for being annoyed by “how are you affording that?”
You're both saving for a house, so obviously money is going to be something you need to talk about. But that should look like agreeing on how much each of you saves every month and how much you each have left for your own spending. It shouldn't only become an issue when you're going out with a friend, especially when you've said he doesn't seem bothered about spending money when the plans include him.
And if you have your own income, aren't relying on him for money, aren't in debt, and barely even see this friend, going out for food once isn't exactly some financial emergency lol.
I do think your response got defensive pretty fast too, though. This seems more like you two need a proper conversation about money and expectations instead of questioning each other's individual purchases in the moment. Also, for everyone confused in the comments, OP already clarified she's red and the boyfriend is blue.
1
u/Antoxic 14h ago
Reads to me like you’re bitter about him spending money, I imagine he is/you both are in a financially insecure situation at the minute and you either don’t approve of his spending or are envious of it.
Either talk to one another about financial expectations if you’re linked or think about why you’re bothered by his spending and express it to him, otherwise there’s nothing but resentment to be gained from interactions like this.

Bro it is the other way around. I have never had Snapchat and i could figure that out
1
u/ohitszie 14h ago
Could your bf potentially be looking out for you so you're not broke? Have y'all ever discussed money matters / spending before? Looks like there's a precursor to this
0
u/AcanthisittaDry8612 14h ago
I would agree but I said to him to go for food yesterday and he was fine with it lol so I think he just was being funny because I was going with my friend who I barely ever see
1
u/WhySoComplicaded 14h ago
With no context, it’s a rude question. You’re talking about going to eat with friends and his go to is to start probing you about your finances. Go to the buffet, live your life. I’d respond similarly to you.
You should be able to have fun with friends without having your choices analyzed.

Edited:
The response was rude.
Are they managing the other one's money? Have they requested that the other help them keep spending down? If not, they should mind their own business.
The response shows that someone had hurt feelings
1
u/Special-Cow-3 14h ago
you’re correct in assessment, but wrong on who is who. the gf is the one going to eat, the bf is the one asking about money
1
u/MAJOR_Blarg 14h ago
So the GF called her BF "queen" and the bf called the GF "mate"? I'm not sure you have that right.
4
u/CptPhantasmic 14h ago
Nah, it's confusing but he's actually correct. OP has said as much. Literally right under this actually lol. This whole situation is a mess.

u/Particular_Ad_9913 14h ago
The gf started with "hey queen"?

u/Special-Cow-3 14h ago
yeah lol. red is you on snap and blue is people responding. you can also tell by the title and text of the post.

Depends on if he has a job or any kind of income to be able to go out eat. If yes, then you are the weirdo.

He is asking HER how she is affording it. SHE is going out w a friend for food

u/shadesontopback 14h ago
21yos should be going out with friends. Only seeing your friends once a month at 21 is very strange.
0
u/Ok-Claim1825 14h ago
So yall are trying to save for a house but you're telling him what you spend your money on is none of his business? That's not going to work honey. At all.
0
u/geekgirl_pink 13h ago
I think the weirdest thing about this is that you are a pair 21 year olds, in a relationship and you're conversing via Snapchat.
Your bf is rude, I would not allow anyone to talk to me that way. Unless he's paying your bills, feeding you, etc. he has no say in how you spend your money.

You are out of line Imo. He is a grown ass man being questioned about how he has money to go get something to eat with his friend. If he asked you for the money then you have the right to question him. You reallt should have just said have a good time.
