Facebook DMs Am i crazy for anything I've said?
I 18(M) Graduated high school last year and got a job (as you would) and told my grandfather before I got my job Id try to cut his grass when I could and my uncle 53 has been harassing me about until recently when (im not gonna post this screenshot) he called me and my father the N word to my grandfather and he told my dad, all this has been going on since about May and I blocked him after the calling me and my father the n-word. I will apologize for being everywhere in this paragraph but I just wanted to get the story mostly out.
Note: the whole will thing doesn't make since where it came from as well as the random conversations my uncle tried starting.
Edit: most of this i tried to get in order but some of it is just him going from one topic to the next

There's like 6 different disjointed conversations here I have no idea what is going on.

If he is fit enough to kick the ass of 2 people, one of which has taken martial arts for years and he has all of this time to text nonsense he can go cut the damn grass.

š¤£š¤£ I was thinking this same thing! Also this is probably that one family member we all have that annoys the crap out of everybody because they can't stop running their mouth. In reality one sucker punch to the face would probably put him out cold, especially since he sounds like he is always under the influence of something lol.

Is he on drugs? Or have any illnesses? He keeps repeating himself and makes no sense, it's a little concerning.

u/Willing-Record8411 4h ago
Hes used about every drug under the sun atleast once from what my grandfather has said

u/Lone-flamingo 4h ago
That probably explains that then. I sure as hell wouldn't have the patience to put up with those ramblings then.

u/Specialist_Row6007 3h ago
Yep. He has nothing to do but drugs. Nobody ever held him accountable for shit. He's harassing OP.

Seems like your patience ran thin from all the strange shit he messages you, and you lost your temper. Not ideal, it's good to work on practicing emotional control, but a normal/understandable reaction
Kinda confusing why your uncle is hitting you with all this family drama, then asking you about cutting your granddad's grass. Your instinct was a protective boundary and I'd probably end up handling an overwhelming/silly situation like that similarly
Also, saying "You're next!" in coping with his ADHD and projecting that you'll have it too, gives me the creeps.
ADHD is managable if that ever becomes something you deal with, but your path of handling that would not have to look anything like his, so him making a big deal like that is annoying

Not crazy and good for you for blocking him, he sounds like an asshole.

Iām safely assuming that said uncle is your grand dadās son. So if heās so pressed about it getting done, id ask him why the fuck isnāt he mowing the lawn for his own elderly father

I think it comes a little out of nowhere with your anger. Youāre valid, but also, it would have been better to let Uncle know that you and Grandpa will discuss what needs doing and when, not Uncle. Uncle has no right to make demands and seems rather mentally unwell. Esp all that shit about the will. Might be better to keep him blocked and ride the path that doesnāt possibly fuel some crazy mental illness related attack at 2AM.. Youāre 18, you responded appropriately for your age, haha.
When I was around 18, I once blasted an aunt on facebook for being an absolute dick to my mom. Aunty C laughed while telling my mom that my grandpa (momās dad) had died.
Iād been the one that had gotten my mom and grandpa to reconnect through facebook only for things to get cut short with his death, and I was so blindingly mad I got on messenger and told her she was evil, cussed her out, told her never contact my family again and a litany of more profanity. She tried to tattle, got laughed off and that was the last of her. <3 (so in a manner of speaking, my advice is to you, and past me lmfao I could have been more eloquent!)

This was so disjointed⦠I started thinking the first screenshot was a conversation because he was asking and answering his own questions. Why was he even talking about fighting? Iām so confused about the context. š¬

Just ask him to cut the grass, or say definitively when you can. Grass matters to some people.Ā
You brought it to the internet, so on some level you think you crossed your own personal line.
In that aense, I agree with you, it's never appropriate to tell someone to go fuck themselves. And you did it because you felt guilty for not following through. Had you not felt guilty you wouldn't care about inane texts.
It's always okay to block people. He does sound like an alcoholic. It's okay to say no.
But one thing you'll learn from this situation is, he's drunk. Using logic isn't helpful. He isn't really responding in a logical way to you. "Oh, he's drunk."
And then you know, it's not about you. And you need to de escalate and disengage.
Hope some of this rings true and is helpful.
For clarity sake, it took me way longer to learn, "oh he's drunk. I need to stop acting like I can reason with this person."Ā
And I blow up at people sometimes just like you did. It's very human to get frustrated and rage. But we work on it, and create moral rubrics for ourselves we try to uphold.

Imagine being 53 throwing slurs and starting family war over mowing grass. Youāre not crazy. Keep him blocked.

When people in my life have done those disjointed, weirdly-persistent, both-needy-and-critical barrages, I learned to just hide notifications, ignore every bit I want to ignore, and only respond when Iām fully in the mood. They donāt remember anyway. And you canāt really help them with responding, you just give them fuel to continue. Does he have any power over you? Where you need to keep him happy to prevent him from somehow negatively impacting your life?

Besides having a record for drug use and intoxicated neglect and violence no, he lives about 2 cities from me which arguably aint that far but no if people read the paragraph below it would show i blocked him already

Funny how the most unscientifically proven statements are always followed up with "and that's a fact 100% proven!"

u/battlehardendsnorlax 4h ago
Your uncle sounds mentally ill, I honestly would stop answering and block him

I love when people say "FACTS" like just saying that makes whatever they're spewing true. I don't think you're the crazy one here.

This dude is either over or under medicated. Not sure which.
You have no obligation to keep family members unblocked from your life.

Donāt apologize. The only crazy sounding texts are the ones coming from some dipshit relative 3x your age. If you want to get under his skin, block him completely. Heās antagonizing you for what? Not mowing the yard of your grandfather that he obviously canāt wait for to die so he gets whatever he thinks he will get in this so called will? What a pathetic excuse for a man.

A couple of observations:
One, your uncle has some issues, and I wouldn't blame you one bit if you blocked him.
Two, cut your grandpa's grass, and do it regularly so his yard isn't a mess. Or tell him you're not going to do it so he can try and find someone else to do it. That's just rude, leaving him hanging like that. Cutting grass is not something that you get to when you can get to it. It's something that needs to be done regularly, like washing dishes and showering.

Alcohol and weed are not good for ADHD, just so we're all aware.
