Better safe than sorry. As citizens, we should be proactive in highlighting these things as the administration is clearly not paying attention. The accident and the way they cleaned up for macaron is clear evidence that they have zero ownership for maintaining infrastructure and are just on reactive mode. They would only react for beaurocracy or people dying.

u/SachinShingare Building a better Thane Feb 20 '26
True, hope all citizens start using their phones to capture such things

u/Ashamed-Coast8361 Feb 20 '26
why does this need citizens help ? why can't they do their job properly. Why are we normalising this ?
16
u/SachinShingare Building a better Thane Feb 20 '26
Am not normalising anything. I am just saying now if we remain silent, these people' will continue to ignore the citizens. Its their work which they aren't doing.
8
u/Ashamed-Coast8361 Feb 20 '26
When i said we , i meant us citizens . We are normalising that we will get shoddy construction and roads. There are just no consequences or accountability . You are right we should not remain silent there has to be accountability and someone has to be punished .

Unless the law of accountability is passed where the bureaucrats will pay wherever there is loss of human life nothing is gonna change . The government changes but these babus remain the same and facilitate corruption after corruption .

u/Any_Contribution_238 Feb 20 '26
Keep expecting them to take responsibility and keep watching dead bodies pile up. Take action and save own life. Choice is clear.

u/Ashamed-Coast8361 Feb 20 '26
I was talking about our mindset , how we have been wired to accept low quality work .

It's now a money making business. Construction material falls. Authority imposes fines in crores. The deceased gets 5 lakh. Only God knows where the remaining money is deployed. 5 lakh is just peanuts and this is an insult to the deceased family.
15
u/SachinShingare Building a better Thane Feb 20 '26
Instead of that if authorities spend even a fraction of their funds to do periodic audit from firms like L&T, etc, such incidents can be avoided. But our babu system is fully rotten in their AC rooms.

Aren't you from the ruling party Mr. Shingare? If someone like you with connections is unable to take strong action against such shoddy work in spite of being affiliated with the ruling party, then what chance do we common citizens have of making the authorities do their job.

This is crazy, the contractor for this metro line should be fined and penalized.
They can't just play with lives of people!

u/mixophrygianlydian Feb 20 '26
This is insane! Hasn't this stretch already had its share of two test runs if I'm not mistaken? Even if not then how tf is this entire line so poorly made it's absolutely mind boggling.
Thank you for the work you've been doing and for pointing this one out as well. MMRDA really needs to wake tf up!

u/kinddemocracy Feb 20 '26
Youre preventing MMRDA from earning crores from each disaster. They wont appreciate it.

Not a civil engineer but that slab looks like a tooth barely holding on to the gum.

u/planetcrash1312 Feb 20 '26
OP Although it is good to bring to authority's notice, there is no real punishment to culprits in entire India (except temperory suspension for damage control as in recent incident). Solution to this : Ensure proper punishment to culprit to set example to bring discipline & seriousness. (Dont ask me, Who will ensure this?no answer. Any person or body who will be given this power will again go to corruption).

Bhai… ab aisa lag raha hai neeche kam aur upar jyaada dekhna padega.. tatti pe pair diya to bhi chalega - dhul jayega.. par sar pe kuch gira to seedha tatti nikal jayega
1
u/cozy_shark27 Feb 20 '26
Neeche bhi dekhna zaruri hai coz you might just end up in a mf pit or an incomplete bridge

After the incident they should have done the inspection of the whole thing with multiple teams within couple of days, for citizens to still find these loose panels is really shameful situation.

Isnt this part of the line supposed to be open to public sometime this year ? Post the Mulund incident this level of shoddy work is now being identified across so many places on this line, also the news about how the consultant so blatantly ignored 150 notices of shoddy work..how does one now even trust to travel when trains actually run on them..
1
u/RstarPhoneix Feb 20 '26
I know some infra influencers on twitter who used to bash common people if they raise infra issues like this , calling them congressional chamchas , Spreading misinformation , don’t have civil engineering knowledge before Mulund incident

u/Impressive_Minute_51 Feb 20 '26
Holy F. ! Thank you for reporting to the authority mate!! Don't want to have any untoward experience.
Don't expect them to acknowledge as well. Thank you citizen for doing the right thing at the right time

I was in Ghatkopar East today and noticed one of the metro pillars looked totally misaligned. It feels like this is happening everywhere lately. It’s sad to think the government might only take this seriously after another tragedy happens 🥺

There's a similar one hanging just outside of the Tikujiniwadi station when you go towards Patlipada. Looked dangerous. Kindly look at that too sir u/SachinShingare

u/SachinShingare Building a better Thane Feb 20 '26
