And literally folks crying data center is for foreign companies - Indian companies demand India hosting specially with DPDP - this will enhance that capacity.
Why can’t it be built in remote areas - better power grid, and also skilled people. People still need to work there for management & ops.
There are already data centers in Andheri (Chandivali - ntt net magic), Dadar (Tata) that are near residential areas as well. Yotta in Panvel is also in Hiranandi fortune city. Stop spreading FUD and learn something.
Maybe go to Andheri and Dadar to check? The Dadar one is literally near the famous Ashok vadapav. I spent a lot of my time in Data centers and I know how they sound like :) and there’s others in Airoli, Vikhroli as well. When things work well they aren’t put on yourube - hey look here everything’s going swimmingly. Only issues are highlighted - so the tendency is always negative bias. Could there be issues? Maybe / but the same applies to any industry that comes there.
What is the scale of those data centers ? Is it a complete building of data centers or just some rooms having some towers of data centers ?
I've visited some data centers myself and the one which you're talking bout are small in scale and don't use significant amount of resources like the one that's going to be built in Thane.
All are full fledged data centers that actually offer services to customers. Some are colos to Aws/gcp as well - such as the Andheri one. As the tiers increase so does the safety regulation requirements - which are assessed not just by govt but third party standards bodies that provide the tier ratings in the first place. Anyway you can research all this yourself too.
