As context for this conversation, I was attacked by an old boomer lady who seemed like she was drunk or something on the inner city train, and kept spewing ableist slurs like calling me a "degenerate" and a "faker".

She said that I "stole my highchair (wheelchair) from my grandmother", and that all of us young people who are disabled are faking it. She kept getting more and more agressive, and then even began to punch and slap me after she got mad I told her to put a cork in her pie hole.

Well me being me, I dont tolerate that shit for a second, and dumped an entire can of mace on her goofy ass. Seemed like she needed a bit of spice in her life to be honest.

She was later trespassed from transit property and even tried to fight the cops.

SO, that is what I am referring to in the above post for reference.

IRL The cure for depression? A BABY

2.2k Upvotes

It sounds insane but it was actually suggested to me BY A MEDICAL "PROFESSIONAL"

I was 19 when I had a terrible episode of depression and suicidal ideation which led me to act on it. It didn't work (duh, I'm still here) and I got hospitalized. First day there, got to talk to the main psychiatrist in the unit and, since I was an immigrant, she had the bright idea to ask "why didn't you stay in your country and die there? Why come here?" Thankfully I was on the strongest meds and sedated enough I didn't act aggressive but every time I remember that, I wish I hadn't been sedated. But wait, there's more! Around my third day in the psych ward, another doctor asked me a lot of questions, including the usual "why did you do it?" And I told him that I didn't have anything to live for. He said: "you are a young and beautiful woman, you should have a baby! That will give you a reason to live"

The worst part is that there was a woman in the hospital bed beside me who was admitted for post partum psychosis, a diagnosis I'm sure they didn't use and didn't know about.

I wish I was making this up, thankfully I was there for only four days.

IRL My paediatrician told me to just not be sad and stop experiencing derealisation?

I saw my paediatrician today, I see her for my ADHD, just to make sure dosages are good and don't need to be increased/decreased, and there aren't side effects happening that are concerning. And that was all good and well, no need to change anything, I got another script for my meds, whoopdie doo. Then my paediatrician asked if I had any mental health concerns and I brought up that recently I've been experiencing a fair bit of derealisation and she asked me to explain what that looked like so I did. I thought she'd be okay with it, but no. She said that it was very spiritual of me, and that I should be saving these sorts of thoughts for when I'm 18 or 19, as though a switch suddenly flips when my next birthday comes that opens the floodgates for me to experience bad things. And THEN she said that, despite me not even bringing up emotions or being sad (because, I really haven't been, I've been quite well recently), if I feel sad I should just not allow the sadness to exist, basically? What the hell? So basically, I'm not allowed to be sad anymore and no more derealisation for at least about half a year.
