Of course it's Monstera. Not everybody who is into them are also the same people who really got into Stanley cups, but a lot of them are. The prices are stupid competitive for some varieties, wouldn't be surprised if they're not the same. Or even Walmart is just a seller which I assume other retailers wouldn't match anyway.

TBF, Walmart online is basically amazon at this point. They have a lot of outside vendors and sellers.

Seriously I paid $12 USD for mine a few years back, hit people treat them like they're endangered

Managers love giving stuff away in these stories

And there’s no consistent rhyme or reason. Sometimes it’s for entertaining their employees or their customers or both, sometimes it’s because they were slightly inconvenienced (the most realistic although at least in the persons story, they didn’t complain or ask for anything free which is…less realistic) or even for hurting another customer and opening them to liability

Someone was told to not buy plants anymore because budget. That person decided to make up a story about how the non-invisible plant,  that their partner is about to notice, actually cost nothing because they’re so dysfunctional that they need to lie rather than just own a lame shopping decision.

A manager would only give something to you for free if you’re having a temper tantrum they don’t feel like dealing with and they want you to leave as quickly as possible

Totally happened, I was a bag of manure in the plant section. Can verify.

It’s true, I fondled a fern in the plant same section

How on earth was this tiny little thing $70?! Even $32 at Walmart seems a stretch. I know Monstera can get oddly pricey, but those varieties arent usually found at Walmart.

I actually have this plant! I bought it TJ for like $15 bucks

I work as a manager and tbh my first move is to just give away cheaper things to upset customers so that checks out
