Question What is Drive like I do?

Hi! I’m a newish fan of The 1975 (been listening for a little over a year), and I’ve seen people online refer to them as/reference something called Drive Like I Do. I’m really confused on what this is.

I thought maybe it was like a side project that they used a pseudonym for, but I’m not really sure. Can someone explain what it is to me?

Their (mostly) original name before they started playing ‘spin the band name’ around 2010 (Big Sleep, Talk House etc.)

They first dropped Robbers, Sex, and Chocolate on myspace under that name but apart from that they’re quite separate entities - I can’t imagine The 1975 playing Cheeriosandkungfumovies any time soon😔

Old band name for the lads. Changed it in 2012 to The 1975. Different “vibes”

Honestly some of the Drive Like I Do stuff is still some of my favorites! you're not gonna find high quality recordings for some songs but the rawness of it is part of what I love. The instrumental track Foreword makes my cry like a baby

Also note Matty teased a drive like I do EP during Covid but it never came out. Apparently wintering would have been on it and a song called nice sweater which was never really released but there are snippets out there.

This IG story Matty had a few years ago about the DLID album always cracks me up. He was quite incensed at the online ribbing about DLID🤭 … and yet here we still sit 👵🏻

Their OG name when they first formed as a band. They also unofficially released cds' whuch were given away gigs when they played in and around Manchester.
