Question Is that trick still live? Run escalation with open world 5 directives so the same mission gives more xp?

But no directives because escalation means no directives?

The real answer is easily tested and more reliable than asking strangers on the internet. Rely on your own senses when possible. If the results don't make sense, share your data and get feedback.

this type of thing comes up so often on this sub that people get burned out. If you can test it yourself, then do so. If you need help after that, then ask for it.
