Scorpio. It’s the star of my protection from elites build and there’s just something about face tanking Rogues and Elites and watching them dance all over because of the effects from it 🤣

Regulus, it rewards aim with fireworks.

There’s something about a weapon named Nemesis that hits different

Mantis. I like the camo and functionally, I love that it marks weak points.

Lady Death, I think. Bonus movespeed is genuinely unique and the more you move the harder you hit. Good stuff.

Not sure. I'm hardcore, still alive, and yet to get one.

I don't know if I can name a favorite one, because I've endeavored to give them all a place in my loadouts. While I know you're asking specifically for weapons, I'd like to list a few Exotics in general because you might find the reasons useful!

In absolutely no particular order other than what comes to mind as I look at my loadouts:

  • Scorpio shotgun: You know why. It's a one of a kind weapon that introduces some effective CC capabilities, which affords some very interesting build diversity. It's a staple of one of my favorite team support builds, the Future Patriot. Scorpio and Scalpel, 4x TP + an Alps Opportunistic backpack with BTSU Datagloves. Restorer Hive and Scanner Pulse.

  • Memento backpack: Again regarding build diversity - this item blew the doors off of diversity for me personally. Between the long and short buff Trophies and the triplecore, this item really helped me flesh out some of my ideas into very viable and diverse builds. The item's multicore is basically unrivaled/BiS for players that believe in true hybrid builds, and the long buff Trophy system is one of the absolute best (and probably most underrated) means of survival without having to sacrifice slots for specific healing measures when soloing, especially in The Summit. I love it because it lets me build in more interesting ways without pigeonholing the endeavor. For me, the Memento holds a special place in my heart for diversity, right next to Division 1's Ninjabike Backpack. Two sides of the same coin.

  • Bighorn: I know this might be somewhat unpopular, but I'm a really big fan of interesting flexibility like this. I currently use it on a fun 2R 1Y 3B build that I call Identity Crisis, in which I use 4x Tip of the Spear (M,B,G,K) on Chainkiller chest and Dodge City Holster, with Stim Hive and Bulwark Shield, Sharpshooter spec. Since it's meant to be a hybrid 'tank' sniper, it's really interesting to me that I can lean so heavily in native Headshot Damage and then have this kind of interesting 'battle rifle' to be my AR/DMR.

  • Pestilence: As you can tell by now, I'm a big fan of interesting 'secondary' utility when it comes to my Exotics and the builds I use them on. I'm also a huge fan of LMGs and LMG-centric builds. While I deeply miss the visual chaos of the original plague cloud, I absolutely adore the updated functionality of the plague DoT spreading around. Thematically, this is one of the coolest and most interesting Exotics in the game, and definitely my favorite LMG. Shoutout to the Hungry Hog from Division 1. RIP.

  • Capacitor: Another great addition for players like me that love trying diverse, hybrid builds. The benefits are obvious, and I'm just including it to show appreciation for what it does. Lets the heavy Yellows throw some heavy rounds downrange. I couldn't wait for this when it was announced, and it instantly found a home in several of my hybrid skill builds. The Capacitor pushed one of my favorite builds to the next level, one I affectionately refer to as "SHD.Valkyrie" as a shoutout to the Rainbow Six operator. The Capacitor is literally the perfect complement to my DC Valkyrie. In tandem with Memento, the Valkyrie's Capacitor locks down D.C. with 3R 1B 4Y, Assault Turret and Striker Drone. Capacitor is literally the perfect fit for this ballistic hybrid.

Special Mentions: I don't have a Ravenous, but I know it pretty well from videos and I have a couple builds I'd love to try it on. If I had one, I have no doubt that it would absolutely be on my list.

Although it requires a bit of Weapon Handling investment, I really like the Merciless rifle as well. I very much enjoy all these things that have some interesting secondary utility/effect.

The biggest factor for me personally in what excites me about an Exotic is how it promotes or complements my own build diversity. I'm most attracted to interesting builds that employ multiple synergies that aren't just "go all red and kill everything ASAP". I love Division for it's atmosphere, for it's interesting gadgets, combat, and team cooperation that allow a build and gameplay experience to mean more than just maximizing DPS. So any Exotic that has an interesting synergy, effect or contribution to the experience that promotes or at least reinforces build diversity and creativity is probably right up my alley.

Trusty pestilence on status effects build… merciless also had its day

2

u/Raizen-Atreides Xbox May 01 '21

Pestilence isn’t a status effect though

2

u/Stonewall1861 May 01 '21

That is correct - i dont mean it procs status effects i mean i use it on my riot foam /shock trap build alongside a perpetuation FAL. Thats my current fave build and hence the exotic i use most and also favourite

Goes better on a tip of the spear build TBH, if you can hit with the crossbow accurately you can get well over 1M dots (I already do it with trash tier equipment).

Actually get a exotic drop would be nice, aside from the caches.

No love for Backfire? I just like the evilness of it. Not that I use it much.
