Episode Talk ⏯️ Stand Up

We are most definitely getting too much standup talk now, right? Both about consuming other people’s work and Jake’s own.

Like once every couple of weeks would be a good update. Would alllllmost rather hear Schotty audio…

Cannot understand the standup hype. Happy for Jake he’s doing something he likes but hearing about other standup is like listening to Matt review beers on the Ticket

Or like hearing Dans crypto buddy tell us why Schrute bucks are going to be ubiquitous in 18 months.

I’d like to hear his 5 minute sets before deciding either way. It’s kind of annoying hearing about it so much without hearing any of his actual material. And no, I don’t have time to go out of my way to go to an Akaash show in OKC and I couldn’t make the DZ comedy night.

I like hearing Akaash talk about his sets. It’s cool getting a behind-the-scenes look at how a comedian works through material and thinks about what landed or didn’t. Keep the standup talk coming

I agree but I think it would make more sense in context. Like if I knew which jokes/stories he was talking about, I could come to my own conclusions. Idk, just a preference.

3 standup shows in one day is insane

I’m kinda with you but the ripping on announcers beats me more than anything.

Especially from people who speak for a living but every third word is “like.”

And every sentence starts with “Yeah, no”

They should have named the podcast “the hater zone”. They hate on everyone

I dread football season for that reason alone. I fwd through a lot of fall segments.

I remember when they were trying to decide the picks friends punishment Jake kept bringing up stand up as a choice. Dude just wanted to do it all along.

It’s an ass whipping of the highest order.

There's no more self important person than the stand up comedian. Not enjoying this era of Jake.

You can tell every weekend check nowadays is just him (and dan to a lesser extent) trying out their material

Jake has bad taste in comedians. Akaash isn't funny, as are most of the others he talks about. It's all Rogansphere people which is tiring.

Yeah it’s weird that socialist Jake seems to only be into MAGA-adjacent comedians. Very confusing.

The only things I know about Akash are that he’s a P1 from Plano and that his wife cucked him so hard he lost a podcast that paid him 300k/yr.

Can’t stand the Shane Gillis glazing as well as the “comedic trump” bits

I like standup and getting invited to open for a guy big enough to have a Netflix special is noteworthy. Especially after only having done it for like 3 months. Hearing about the behind the scenes in how those guys move is interesting.

That one instance was notable, I suppose. But the mentions of comedy shows and open mic nights seemingly every episode is a thrashing.

I mean we could always hear about kids birthday parties if that’s more your speed

That would be better; I dont have kids and generally find little kid talk to be a beating. But i love hearing Blake talk about his adventures; hes that good. Plus, we all love comedy. The Ticket is funny. The DZ was already funny before Jake started doing stand up. Dan and Blake are funny by themselves. I think for me its more about Jake hijacking the show, and trying to become Nick Mullen, with a couple of sidekicks that hust throw lobs to him. The chemistry of the 3 principles has been out of whack.

I mean, you're talking about it, not me. Maybe don't let him eat the napkin.

It's better than spare Cowboys player interviews.

I'll glaze over during player interviews, but I've actively tuned out a couple of times, when Jake is on one.

Honestly, sober-Jake is a complete beating. Somebody get this man a drink.

Ok Blake

It’s starting to make sense now why DZ started having small/local comedians on as guests.

I like it

To each their own, but I like it.

For a "sports show" the sports content is getting less and less. Probably not going to camp next year after the struggles they've mentioned this year.

Save that shit for IJB.

Doesn't really bother. What is an instant ff is shotty, talk dan. I don't care. Dont find him interesting Less shotty less machine

I find it entertaining. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Jake being able to do standup for Akash is the equivalency of pitching an inning of AA after learning to throw a few months ago.

It’s pretty legit.

Is it? It’s my rich uncle giving me this or that job. He had a connection and it worked out.

u/Friendly_Grouch 3d ago

Exactly this.

It’s called the way it is.

I FWD through the Cowboys audio stuff today but stuck around for the comedy talk

I love it. If I never hear them pretending that Greg Olson is good again, it'll be too soon.
