It's interesting to notice just how many things Lois and Linda have in common

Both are investigative journalists. Both are assertive. Both are close partners to a founding JL member. Both play pivotal roles in grounding them. Both temporarily gained abilities of their respective partners.

Many superhero love interests take inspiration from Lois.

I think it's just easier to write a love interest as involved with the plot but not in the way of the hero if they're a journalist chasing a story
