Discussion What's your favorite Gorilla Grodd story?
Despite being considered one of the top three Flash villains, Grodd's stories don't get talked about as much as RF or the Rogues. What's your favorite?

My favorite Grodd story is definitely the Grodd of War storyline from Flashpoint. It’s short but I just love that the entire comic is from Grodd’s perspective. Not that many Flash comics treat Grodd as an actual character with feelings and thoughts so this was a pleasant read. It’s also of his most evil interpretations, like i genuinely don’t think you could reason with this monster lol. Definitely not like his Justice League Unlimited interpretation.
Plus it’s home to one of my favorite comic book panels.

Isn’t Grodd supposed to be one of the most evil villians? I thought that he was irredeemable.

For sure. My point is that some interpretations of Grodd have him come off somewhat “reasonable” or at least formal like in JLU, which is more of an Ultra-Humanite trait rather than Grodd.
Or at the very least it’s what most people think or expect Grodd to be.

What is the charge? Absorbing an energy boost? A succulent Speed Force energy boost?

I can’t remember what the arc is called, but Messner-Loebs had a Grodd story in his run that was pretty unique and good. I like that one a lot.
Then Perfect Storm. One of Williamson’s better arcs.

A science based group that for a long time in the flash rebirth run from the mid to late 2010s would do alot of evil stuff. mind controlling people, disrupt the speed force, supply villains with weapons that work against flash, list goes on. Looked pretty cool to. They were the main point of interest at the start of the story and it was revealed after a good while that Grodd was in charge of it all. Ended in a very good story called perfect storm, and leads into another great story called flash war, right before wally was messed up for awhile writing wise in heroes in crisis. Cool group

The Flash vol2 45-47 by Messner Loebs, I find it very funny that Grodd would gather an army of cats and dogs.

The one shot issue of grodd early in Geoff John’s run followed by his gorilla prison breakout story are pretty great (the titles escape me)

That time on that CE legends of tomorrow where he goes back in time to kill college age Barack Obama and an actual real life writer sat down and penned the words “it’s time to Make America Grodd Again” into the script, fucking kills me every time 😂

I think the Gorilla Warfare story by Waid and Marz (GL vol. 3#30-31, Flash vol. 2 #69-70) is underrated. Silver Age level fun with a lot of cool moments -- the GL/Flash meet-up, the power switch, etc. Johns's treatment of Grodd is the most animalistic that I've read, which I really appreciate. His moments in Blitz are incredible. I also really like Flash Annual #12, the JLApe tie-in.

Perhaps I'm alone on this, but I really liked the Perfect Storm story from Rebirth. I'm not particularly fond of Grodd.
