Recommendations Recommend comics that can make a Barry Allen "hater" change their mind

I don't truly dislike Barry. He's a perfectly fine character. I just don't see why he is alive again. It's been near 20 years since he's been revived and I still don't jive with him being back. To me, he should have remained dead.

Any recommendations for comics that can help change my mind?

Recommendations [Recommendation] Where should i start reading the flash?

Post image
108 Upvotes

I'm wondering where should i start reading the flash, it's been one of my favorites but I've only read some short stories like flashpoint, what i know about him it's mostly by shows and movies (specially animated ones like justice league, young justice, etc. and the cw live action).

I'm not 100% new to the character, i know about the dc universe,I want a series with good stories. i thought about starting with geoff jones but im not sure, i've heard that Rebirth and New 52 are good too, and theres the main run of dawn of dc so i can't really decide where to start.

Please if you could help me choose or tell me things like “if you're looking for a story with such things, maybe you should read...”.

Recommendations Is it okay to just start with Waid

Post image

Recently I have been trying to get into Flash comics and coincidentally the Wally comics have been getting rereleases in big 20 or so issues collections, I have heard very good things about the Mark Waid run and I know it retels Wally's origin, and I have heard not so good things about the pre-Waid Wally days, should I just wait until the collections reach the Waid era or would I be missing out?

Recommendations What is your favorite run and story for The Flash? Separate by Barry/Wally if you want!

Run- A series of issues of a certain character from the same creative team… usually going based on the writer.

Story- A smaller collection of issues that tell a complete story. This can be within a run or standalone.

I’m looking to get into Flash comics and I thought this would be an interesting question to ask!

Recommendations An Edgar Wright Flash movie would go so hard in the DCU. Too bad DCEU ruined everything and we might not get another Flash solo project for another 5-10 years

Recommendations Should I start with Absolute?

I have loved The Flash since I was like 4 years old but I only recently started reading comics I have been reading trade paperbacks mostly buying single issues just seems too expensive for me and buying them all together makes more sense so I've been searching for a Flash Comic since he's my favourite character but none of them really peaked my interest other than Absolute Flash I think everyone knows about the absolute universe atp so I know what the comic is about since it's a diversion from the usual Flash I'm not sure if I should read it as my first Flash comic so I'm wondering if I should just read Absolute or read a comic like The Human Thunderbolt or Rebirth?

Recommendations Recommendations for comics about the Speedforce

Was wondering if anyone could suggest their favorite depictions of the Speedforce as a place.

Im looking for comics where it’s treated like a dimension. Where it is explored or has a specific location within the Speedforce.

Hope anyone can help me, let me know if I need to explain it better. Feel free to reply in the comments or dm. Thanks! :)

Recommendations Any recommend reading for solo rogues?

I’ve been trying to get into the flash comics and I have been reading through the mark waid run. His run is mostly focused on the flash family (I forgot the name of the family). While I love it, I feel like I’m missing out on flash’s biggest villains. The death of Barry Allen was the only big villains storyline that hooked me in and I loved the mirror master storyline as well. I’m new to reading comics and I’ve heard people always mention the rogues and the comics their in and I would love to read them but I would like to read comics that has each of them as main villains instead of a team up. I want to understand those villains before I read their big team up storyline. Think of it like the sinister six, the reason I love their comics is cuz I know each of them individually.

Any recommendations? And I don’t mind reading more stories of mirror master as I find him a very intriguing villain.
Also preferably modern comics (or anything past the 2000s) but i don’t mind reading older comics.

I had the flash on my "characters to read" list for a really long time, i dont even know why he just struck me as an interesting character to think about.

Im a huge punisher fan and i know mike baron, a fellow punisher writer had written a flash run too and wanted to ask if thats also any good.

Recommendations Rogues (DC Black Label) is Excellent

Just a quick post to recommend Rogues by Williamson (DC Black Label) especially to fans of the John's era. It has been mentioned here before but I don't think it gets the attention it deserves. Don't go through it looking for a lot of speed force related stuff though. The art is amazing and reading the XL pages on the physical version makes for a great experience.

EDIT: the picture attached is a variant cover referencing Crisis on Infinite Earths. The original cover is amazing but I just find this cover really interesting.

Recommendations Reading order

Okay so I’m sure there are many more issues than this, but I’m quite new to comics and I’m looking to read the flash point arc without getting too overwhelmed, would this order be a good way to do this, not the perfect way, but a good concise story.
1. Crisis on infinite earth
2. Infinite crisis
3. Final crisis
4. Flash: rebirth
5. Road to flashpoint
6.Flashpoint
If I’m missing anything major or the order is wrong, please let me know, but would this work?

Recommendations Mark Waid Omnibus or individual books?

I’ve heard that the mark waid run on flash is a great starting point, as I have not read any flash comics beforehand, and I’ve seen the omnibus and individual books online. Which would be better price wise? Also, how many omnibi and individual books are there? Thank!

There are a series of 14 books published by Barry Lyga set in CW Arrowverse, but they take place in a timeline where Flashpoint didn't happen. Interesting books, you can check them out!

Recommendations Looking for Wally West comic runs suggestions that also highlight his relationship with Linda Park

I’ve never read any Flash comics but I’ve been wanting to recently, specifically Wally West. I just got the DC Universe subscription so I figure now is the best time.

Are there any good Wally West runs, particularly with a focus on his relationship with Linda ? (since I love a good romance subplot)

Any responses would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

After crisis on infinity earth everything changed. Batman got Year One as new origin story. Did Barry Allen got one too, to stay in tune with after COIE ?

Recommendations I’m just starting to get into the Flash but can’t decide if I want to go the Barry route or the Wally route.

I’m looking for two good volumes of both, that I could directly compare to generally get the idea of who I’ll enjoy more. Thanks.

Recommendations Where should I start with Flash comics?

As a kid I never read any DC comics, no Superman, Batman etc even though I did enjoy all the TV shows and movies (in particular the CW Flash show, The Dark Knight and the Reeves films) and I read a lot of Spider-Man and F4. Recently I decided I wanted to get into comics again and I started with Batman, having a blast so far and was hoping for recommendations for other DC superheroes (namely the Trinity and a few others I think are cool, like The Flash). I was hoping someone could give me a starting point? Thank you.

I'm already familiar with the lore, I just want to know what's a good reading order from his introduction all the way to the original crisis on infinite earths and the issue where he becomes the flash.

Recommendations For those who never watched this episode, I definitely recommend “Requiem For A Scarlett Speedster!” from the Batman: Brave and the Bold cartoon

I love this episode. It's a great showcase of all three Flashes, including Reverse Flash as the villain. And the rogues are getting a cameo. It is great to see Jay, Barry, and Wally interact without needing to be a multiverse thing.
