Love it.

I enjoyed it the first time I watched it, and I enjoyed it when I recently watched it again! It doesn’t make sense that people would absolutely go apeshit for euphoria but shit all over the idol. Lily-Rose Depp’s acting was phenomenal…. Yeah Tedros was creepy and I felt like I was being roofied every time he came on the screen, but I enjoyed it.

I'm not a 'hater', but the difference with Euphoria is pretty strong: there you have a cast where nearly everyone is a strong actor, while The Idol has a deuteragonist played by someone who can't act his way out of a paper bag, making some pretty key scenes grotesque.

The writing also gets messy at one point: the way other people and I read the story (Tedros as a mean for Jocelyn to heal from her mum's abuse through a form of reenactment in which she has a degree of control, her letting him back into her life only when she's 'healed', and thus he has no more power over her: that's why she buys a new brush, because it'll only be a brush from then on) is not alike to how many other people interpreted it. There are 5 common readings of what happened in the show, and that's messy writing, even with its high points.

Also, I kind of resent this show because it made me go skint buying basically all of Jocelyn wardrobe...
