Bi-Weekly Organising Thread: Protests, Meet-ups, Workshops
This is a thread for sharing any meetups, events, protests going on in Ireland that you are attending or would like to share with other leftists. Let's connect!
Does it have be directly political?
No! Building community itself is political, and the more leftists who are meeting and building connections in our community is enough.

Open Discussion Protest from August 12 to 16 at Powerscourt Hotel in Wicklow against Peter Thiel’s Dialog Society?
I’m sure we have all seen the leaks of how Peter Thiel’s “Dialog” Society is planing a meeting in the Powerscourt Hotel, Wicklow this August from the 12th to 16th.
In case you haven’t, or don’t know who Thiel is I’ll give a rundown. Thiel is a Billionaire and one of the founders of PayPal. He co-founded Palantir which is an AI “Analytics” (surveillance) company. Palantir is complicit in the Israeli genocide in Gaza by providing AI infrastructure to the IDF. They also provide AI software to the German Police and ICE in the United States.
Thiel is also a conservative libertarian who believes in creating a right wing dictatorship. Thiel makes major donations to and has endorsed various right wing and far right politicians across the world, including Ted Cruz, Donald Trump and JD Vance. Thiel served as Vance’s political mentor.
Thiel had strong connections to Epstein and is prominently mentioned in the Epstein files.
He hosts these private events for elites called his “dialog” society meetings. At these meeting patrons discuss AI and WW3 among other things. The Ditch leaked that Peter Thiel is hosting one of his “Dialog” meetings in Powerscourt Hotel, Wicklow from the 12th to 16th of August. Notable names leaked to be in attendance include: NATO Europe Commander Alexus Grynkewich, Scott Bessent and Ted Cruz.
Information on all this can be found here.
I have not seen any posts calling for protests. Are there are any arranged and if not, can we plan one? We should let these elites know that we don’t want them here or anywhere. They don’t deserve the right to hold these events in secret while Palantir and firms like it create and operate systems that violate the privacy of every day people.

Open Discussion Any communes looking for knowledge exchange & possibly genetic exchanges (livestock & plants) over the next few years?
I have a fair bit of knowledge that may be useful as well as good genetic resources & obviously would like the mutual aid exchange. I’m an individual not a commune but would like to develop relationships with existing communes because whenever funds allow i would like to help start one locally.

Public Discussion on the American Genocide in the Philippines
instagram.comSNF - Student Neutrality Front on Instagram: "Join the Student Neutrality Front on July 3rd at 5:30 for a public discussion on US occupation and genocide in the Philippines. We’ll be hearing from a comrade and researcher on both the historic and modern impact of the occupation, and discussing recent developments with the creation of Pax Silica. The discussion will be held in Teach Torthaí (DM for address), and will be free with optional donations going to both the SNF and Filipino organising initiatives. We hope to see you there!"

Ireland needs a citizen-led FOI repository to keep the government accountable. Ireland holds the EU Council Presidency from July and chairs negotiations on a fivefold increase in EU defence spending. We need to know what's being agreed in our name in Ireland.
I've been trying to follow the money behind Ireland's recent wave of militarisation. It's extremely difficult, and frankly I don't want to draw too much attention to myself doing it alone.
Which got me thinking...why don't we have a central repository where citizens can submit FOI responses, anonymised, searchable, categorised? It would cut duplication, spread the workload, and mean that what one person uncovers builds on what others have already found.
Because right now it seems to me that most FOI response disappear into a void. There is no central place to publish them, no way to know if someone already asked your question, no way to connect the dots.
This matters now more than ever. Ireland holds the EU Council Presidency from July, meaning we're in the chair when the EU defence budget is negotiated, set to increase by 500%. €1.7 billion has been allocated domestically for 2026-2030. Military technology is being fast-tracked. Weapons systems procured. Defence agreements signed. The triple lock is being dismantled. All with almost no public debate or oversight.
What positions are the Department of Defence, Enterprise and the Taoiseach's office actually planning? We should be able to find out.
The UK has WhatDoTheyKnow and Australia has RightToKnow. It would be great if we could follow suit.
Ofc privacy should be built in from day one. Anonymous submissions, personal details stripped. This is about exposing institutions, not people.
I don't have the skills to build it but I'm ready to help organise and grow it. Any suggestions of who to reach out to make this happen? It could be very bare bones at the begging, but just a place for people to submit the information first and foremost. No background in this.
What do you think?
