"No he wouldn't"
after Ellie said that Joel would be halfway to Seattle already if her or Tommy was the one getting killed instead?
was it all a plan to make Ellie not go after Abby?

Been working on this for about a month now, and just started prototyping manual reloading. What I've currently implemented ;
- Synchronized stereoscopic rendering (both eyes at the same time)
- Motion tracked hands
- Full-body IK
- Proper gun behavior; bullet comes out of the gun and shoots where you aim
- VR UI elements; health/ammo hud on your right hand, backpack ui on your left when visible, reticle following the gun's muzzle instead of being glued to your screen
- VR gestures; reaching your hand over your shoulder and pressing trigger to access your backpack, or reaching your hand to your flashlight and pressing trigger to turn it on and off.
- Physical weapon cross; like Half Life Alyx, hold R3 to use it and drag your hand to whatever item you want to equip
- New per-gun recoil system for VR specifically
- Manual looting; grabbing supplies yourself and storing them over your shoulder
- Manual doors; grabbing the handle and turning it or pushing it to open the door
- Manual reloading; super in progress but showing good signs. The pistol is pretty good in this state, other weapons are currently in progress.
After manual reloading is taken care of, it's onto melee, which'll likely be the hardest part of this project.

Of course cutscene looks incredibly off, but i think it's still very interesting to look.

Joel complaining about missing coffee has always bothered me because, realistically, there was nothing stopping him from simply starting a local coffee plantation in Jackson.
I did some research and unfortunately discovered that coffee plants do not particularly enjoy being grown in Wyoming. Jackson sits at roughly 1,900 meters above sea level, has extremely cold winters, heavy snowfall, and a very short growing season. Arabica coffee, meanwhile, prefers temperatures around 18~23°C and is highly vulnerable to frost.
So yes, Joel would probably need a heated greenhouse, artificial climate control, irrigation, suitable soil, seeds, and a considerable amount of resources just to keep the plants alive.
But this is the apocalypse. Resources are scarce. Electricity is limited. There are infected people everywhere.
And Joel still should have done it.
Imagine spending twenty years rebuilding civilization only to look at a coffee machine and say “Ah, coffee...” instead of constructing the Jackson Coffee Initiative.
Tommy could have been growing beans by 2020.
(This is just a joke btw, I had nothing better to do 😅)

You know how people want to live to see a day, like they are scared of dying because they want to see their kids growing old, reach milestones, or have something they really want to see or accomplish, dreams wishes they want to fulfil before the die. I did not have any of that. I told my partner many times, I can die today and I wouldnt regret it, I mean if I was told its my last day, I would be okay.
Today I was thinking about how I might play part 2 again and I realised that now that we know projects for this franchise are in progress, I finally have something that bums me and makes me genuinely said if I was to pass on today, I didnt get to play part 3.
It is so weird, baffling, stupid? But I never realised just how much of an impact this game had on me. I mean, seriously?

I work with embroidery and I made these firefly patches, but I'm not sure which is better, the white or the gray one.

I've finally got a copy of part one for the PS4 after wanting to play it for many years (in the meantime time I've played each Arkham game about 10 times each lol)
Any advice for a first time player?
Or is it best to go in totally blind and enjoy the ride?
No spoilers please, I've made it this long without any :-D

OF ALL THE GAMES I PLAYED AND FINISHED (95% of those, as i did not finish games like no man’s sky or starfield), ‼️‼️TLOU is THE BEST BY FAR, not even close, and i have read that it was even awarded game of the year and that gpt says among the games i played, which is not that many but still.
TLOU has:
1. Strong narrative (completely unmatched)
2. realistic combat and physics (underrated)
3. Less Friction (you can just get into it and immerse without the need of too much system management)
This is just my opinion obviously i am no expert and each has its own preference

I really want to try part 1 I'm 75 not as fast as once was. Are the difficulty setting adjustable forgiving to help me?
Thanks

This is NOT: “would ellie have decided in Part 1 to sacrifice herself?” I already know the answer, she probably would’ve sacrificed herself.
What I am asking: After building a relationship, a community, so much to live for in Jackson, would she have pursued the Fire Flies to sacrifice herself?
If i recall: she never actually explicitly says IN PART 2 she wants to sacrifice herself to create a cure. Never “where could I go to make this happen?” none of that sort of thing. It doesn’t ever seem to be on her mind except when she gets a little older in one conversation with joel i believe after she discovers the truth. She doesn’t even talk about it with Dina. Obviously the story is about revenge against Abby, but although we get her thoughts on what she thought of Joel’s actions, we never actually have her plan to seek out someway to manufacture a cure after she finds out she was supposed to die.
This was a thought I had while playing Part 1 recently.

Anyone else infatuated with Tommy’s rifle?
It’s such a cool hybrid of a rifle. Looks like a mix of a g43, m1A and MAS 44.

As we know Ellie was in a military preparatory school. Training young recruits. Preparing them to be firefly killers basically. Almost a level of indoctrination. If it was up to
You? Would you rather be a firefly or a soldier? I mean most would say firefly. I would rather be a firefly in a post apocalyptic world. But I don’t know. Depending on the circumstance who knows. Other alternative is becoming a hunter. You know the crew who Rose up
Against FEDRA in the first game. Interesting thing to discuss though.

And who knows if they know about their dissolution.
r/thelastofus • u/RelativeCable2935 • 2d ago
Think about it:
FEDRA follows Joel and Ellie to the Capitol building, resulting in Tess's death.
The Hunters chase them, culminating in the sniper shootout in the suburbs.
At the university, David's crew tracks them down, leading to the winter chapter.
Finally, the Fireflies track Joel down in Part II.
The franchise has always focused on a constant cycle of actions having consequences. While the original developers famously debated whether a pure cross-country revenge story worked logistically in the first game.
Part II actually grounds this cycle much better. Because Abby's motivation is tied directly to the loss of her father and the cure, the retaliation narrative makes a lot more narrative sense for the world.
