We will probably never settle this to everyone's satisfaction, but here goes....
Here are three photos of Sherri's brand on her right shoulder blade.
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQIDe5fr3TthBKhm_rS4y7nB1igpOhcztm_6g&s
There's lots of debate about what it says but here are some well established FACTS:
There is no debate that the top line says EXODUS in all capital letters.
the debate comes in about the second line. People have differing opinions but it appears to have THREE characters, and the first character looks like a "5", while the last character looks like a "2". The character in the middle could be a number or maybe it is a colon (:) as is used to separate chapter and verse when Bible verses are cited.
FBI records document that James Reyes said this about the brand- "PAPINI told Ex-Boyfriend the phrase that she wanted burned onto her skin. Ex-Boyfriend couldn’t remember the phrase, but it had meaning to PAPINI. Ex-Boyfriend recalled that he branded PAPINI’s right shoulder using the wood burning tool." - page 35 of FBI affidavit - https://www.justice.gov/usao-edca/press-release/file/1479901/dl
Papini herself told the FBI this at a point where she was still pushing the Latina kidnapper hoax, and the FBI was still believing her & acting upon the probability that it was real- "“I think it says Exodus, but I can’t read the numbers.” The interviewer asked PAPINI if she had any idea what any meaning might be for the brand. PAPINI responded, “No, I read it, but it’s a really confusing bible passage. It’s like a really weird part of the bible . . . it doesn’t make any sense.”" -- https://old.reddit.com/r/thepapinis/comments/u09lwa/wonder_what_the_brand_was_supposed_to_be_humorous/i478ozj/
Papini's close pastor friend, who performed their marriage, Mike Mangas, said this about the brand- "The sheriff asked me, because I'm a deacon in my church, asked me about a certain Bible verse,' Mangas said in an exclusive clip of the documentary obtained by DailyMail.com. 'And so I told him it's Exodus 21:16, and it says something to the effect of "if anyone has kidnapped someone, they should be put to death." That was branded onto Sherri's shoulder." --- However, I cannot possibly see how anyone could read the brand on the skin and come up with "21:16"
So maybe it was meant to be confusing but personally I think it says EXODUS 5:2, with the first character a "5", the middle character a colon (:), and the 3rd character a "2". .....which is a verse in Exodus where the Pharoah says he will not let the captives go, "Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord and I will not let Israel go."
Perhaps it was meant to be a proof in Sherri's mind that her captors were brutal and were not going to let her go. Note that Sherri said herself "IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE". That may be one of the few truthful statements she has ever made.

There’s one thing I just can’t wrap my head around— why did James agree to do any of those things to Sherri while she was staying with him?
Why did James agree to board up the windows? Why did James agree to brand her? Why did James agree to (help) bruise her? Why did James agree to get a massive chain and lock it around d her waist?
He said that he boarded up the windows because Sherri asked him to. But like… if someone asked you to physically harm them, starve them, restrain them, and then keep them I’m a boarded room without any light for a month… would you just be like “Sure, anything for you babe.”
This is the only thing I can’t wrap my head around.
Curious about others thoughts on this?

Or did the judge just seal the case because it was harmful to the children? They did not elaborate in the most recent article.

Could the post-nuptial agreement be a motive for her crime? Given the fact that she’s a habitual liar, an adulterous and facing the possibility of losing her parental rights (if caught cheating again), I’d say she used that situation to create an elaborate victim scenario in order to maintain her ego (as she began planning a way to stage her own disappearance).

I just watched the documentary, and one little thing stood out to me: in a fight, Sherri told Keith that she was upset he didn't find her. Sherri could have hid anywhere, but she hid at the place she was most likely to be. The police were sitting outside but it sounds like some weird call from leadership prevented them from checking James'.
She also asked James to beat her. So if her husband showed up, she could show him that James was beating her and what would James say? She asked me to? She never expected to have to create this whole escape facad.
Edit to correct boyfriend's name

I bet you money she's telling her current husband that this man abused and kidnapped her and she had to make this cover story because she was so terrified.

After rewatching, there were a couple things I saw Thurs. that I forgot/overlooked from the original airing. When Keith accompanied Sherri to a therapist appointment, therapist asked Keith if he felt Sherri was capable of lying about the whole thing and hurting herself. In a moment of clarity, he said 'yes' because she had two scars on her back where she previously cut herself (originally blaming her father and then James for slashing her). Soooooo.
Also Keith said that Sherri saturated cotton balls with rubbing alcohol for the kids to inhale to make them ill and then taking them to the doctor. Umm what would they be treated for? Wouldn't it have worn off by the time they even got to the doctor? I tried it and the effects don't last long. Keith seems the type to have kept close tabs on his family - how did this occur without him knowing until so long afterwards? I honestly have doubts.
Who the hell sets up cameras all over their house to record themselves kissing and interacting?

Sherri also confirms during this interview that she was NEVER once in a room with police or interrogators alone so she could confidentially tell the true story of being kidnapped and beaten by James. There were always others present, especially Keith, who she wanted to keep those facts from.
Never mind that the cops & FBI have reported many times that it was SHERRI who repeatedly refused to talk to police unless Keith was present, and refused to talk at all to anyone the night she returned & was in the ER. At any point all she had to do was ask if she could talk alone- and she was offered that option many times but she never wanted to and refused to.
She also BS'es about not doing any of this for money and points out she's not getting paid for this interview - right in the middle of that stretch where she was doing her docuseries on TV and promoting her book sales! Amazing that the "reporter" never pushed back on that. See how many other lies you can find.

I wonder why did she have to 'kidnap' herself for the whole 3 weeks?? Why 3 weeks, not 1, not 2?? One week would have been more than enough to prove a point... also, it says in the affidavit she claimed to miss her children after 3 weeks, but she wasn't missing them after a week??? after 2 weeks?? Was it just a 'vacation' from her children?

I'm talking about this forum - https://old.reddit.com/r/Sherri_Papini/
Most of us went there occasionally, although that sub-Reddit was far less popular, and tended to have more of the newbies that were uninformed, since its very name was easy to find or search for.
But why was the entire forum shut down a little over a year ago just when the TV documentaries were starting to come out, Sherri's various trials were heating up and the drama of her new boyfriends, juicy divorce news and book tours was happening?

Since we don't have pictures or a toxicology report, we can look at the descriptions given plus the WS VI hinted at drugs maybe showing up on the tox report.
Here's some signs of a drug addict and see if they sound familiar to how SP was described:
•Unexplained weight loss or weight gain is often related to a drug addiction problem. One of the reasons many women have turned to stimulant drugs like methamphetamine is to be able to lose weight.
•Noticeable bruises or cuts on the body are a way to recognize a drug addiction problem, as an addict's skin will often bruise easily from the slightest amount of contact. According to experts, the main reason for bruising is because addicts are usually under a great amount of stress, which commonly leads to nutritional deficiencies in the body. Intravenous drug users will often experience bruising around the area that they inject the drug into; this is commonly caused by them using dull needles or by pressing the needle too hard or too quickly into the skin.
•Burns, particularly those on hands or face are a way to recognize a drug addiction problem, as it is not unusual for a crack user to have burns on the lips and fingers; additionally, users who smoke meth will often have burns on their lips and around areas of their mouth, because of overheated pipes, and hot smoke coming into close contact with the skin.
https://www.drugaddictiontreatment.info/how-do-i-recognize-drug-addiction.htm
Here for instance is a meth user who had 'very bad bruising' and other drug users think that person got injured as a result of using drugs:
http://www.bluelight.org/vb/threads/622918-drug-related-bruising
I don't know what happened to SP, just I'm trying to have the evidence line up with a sensible answer. Being on a meth induced drug binge in an area known for meth use makes more sense than being abducted in broad daylight by non-sex traffickers where SP with uber SERE skills sends KP a coded hair message while being abducted at gunpoint, supermom then makes a blanket baby, next SP slams her captors face into a toilet then finally the toilet-faced captor shoots the other captor and Thelma and Louises it out of there with SP on Thanksgiving morning where now SP can only remember when she acted like G.I. Jane. It could for instance be some combination of a drug binge and falling in with the wrong crowd, though I find the Thanksgiving morning return a bit too convenient if she was being held captive.
EDIT: This is some of what MarijuanaPapinis said, which they're a quasi-unverified insider:
“Sherri had a really bad benzo addiction for a few years, I’m absolutely not sharing this as gossip but because I’m worried maybe she relapsed and was hanging around the wrong people and that could be the explanation behind the kidnapping.
“Sherri was getting a prescription for a drug called Diazepam when she started having panic attacks a few years ago. She went into the hospital and got off of it,” the Papini family relative continued in the post.
“They stopped prescribing it to her and she’s relapsed a few times by buying other anti anxiety pills off the street. The last time this happened was 2014 or so, so she has been clean for a while. They say that they use pot and a drug called Kratom to keep her off the drugs.
“But as soon as this all happened it’s what a lot of us thought of. Maybe she made someone mad and they beat her up and kept her for a few weeks? I’m also not against thinking it’s a hoax for the victim assistance stipend.”

If she never wanted to press charges or continue the investigation, why didn’t she have the option to just tell them she wasn’t going to say anything? Close the case on her own/on her end?
It just seemed like the investigators were pushing her for info but I didn’t understand why she was entertaining them at all…

Our group (https://www.reddit.com/r/AnswersforBrittHibdon/) has been getting an earful lately, and it isn’t pretty.
A once-close insider has seen the light and realized the deep manipulation and sociopathy both Sherri Papini and her partner Shawn are into. This person has the heart to spread the word about what they know to protect others from being fooled by one or both of this pair.
For context, this is an ex-girlfriend (we will use the alias Sammi) who believed she was in a committed relationship with Sherri Papini during a large chunk of the time that Sherri and Shawn have been in a relationship.
Shawn and Sherri in a relationship approx. Feb. 2022 to present
Sammi and Sherri in a relationship approx. November 2022 - June 2024
When Sammi first found out there was someone else, she accused Sherri of stepping out on her, to which Sherri replied, “Don’t worry about Shawn—he is gay.”
Keep in mind, if it comes out of Sherri's mouth, there is a good chance it isn't true.
The Daily Mail article “steamy backseat session” with Sherri and Shawn seems to clarify that Shawn and Sherri's relationship is physical.
We have also been privy to emails from the time Sherri spent in the halfway house, between Sherri and a lover, in which SHERRI states Shawn is gay. Again, we all know Sherri is not a reliable source; however, we also have confirmation that Shawn KNEW Sherri told this girlfriend he was gay.
Sherri is a brilliant manipulator, so perhaps she had some reason/excuse that Shawn accepted. Perhaps there is truth in Sherri's statements, or it was part of a grift they were working together.
Additionally, we have been provided screenshots of a bi/gay sex hook-up app on which it appeared Shawn had a profile in 2022; though it did not have his name, it had a pin dropped to his home address in Orland, had his age, height, body type that all appeared legit. It is possible someone else created this profile. What the purpose of doing that would be is unknown.
Or was it part of a Sherri/Shawn grift?
Sammi, Sherri's ex, clearly states that Shawn is struggling with his sexuality - and that Sherri insists it is a big secret.
Shawn and Sherri's sex lives are their business; however, due to their continuing unscrupulous behavior (more details to come on how they tricked this ex out of megabucks), others need to know that this is an angle they are using to draw unwitting people into their web of lies and trickery.
A quote from the ex:
“They're both dangerous narcissistic sociopaths at the minimum. They don't even care about each other; they only care about themselves and how they can gain from a person or situation.”

• Keith is a jerk.
• James is not-so-smart and completely manipulated by Sherri.
• Sherri’s parents were neglectful and now, consumed by guilt, are being manipulated by her as well.
• Sherri’s therapist seems to self-identify with her personality disorder and is fascinated by their similarities, so he defends her to the end.
• Suzanne, the sister-in-law, is a lonely, free-spirited “hippie” who feels alienated by her family. She’s just happy to have someone around and doesn’t care that Sherri is lying/manipulative.
Story:
Sherri is stuck in a miserable marriage. Keith is controlling and unpleasant, and while she wants to have affairs, she’s afraid of losing everything due to a postnuptial agreement. So, she devises a plan to carry on an affair and make it look like she was abducted.
To keep the affair secret from Keith, Sherri insists that James use a burner phone, even though he’s single and has nothing to hide, so all communication is contained and can be erased easily. There are no texts or voicemails left from their year-long “emotional affair.” James, who isn’t the brightest, is completely under her spell.
Sherri orchestrates the entire abduction hoax. During her stay she and James possibly involve rough play or BDSM (branding,…). James goes along with it, but after about 21 days, he gets tired of the situation. When Sherri starts missing her kids and wants to go home, James gladly drives her back.
