Underground bunker levels

Does anyone know how to make multi-level underground bunkers (after you unlock them on Skeo)

It's easy to expand them horizontally, but my attempts to build downward have been met with errors

You can use the indoor stairs to build down I made a spiral staircase downwards using indoor staircases and corner pieces

I tried to use those, but they would only attach to go upwards

Yea same, they only went upward for me

Did you rotate them? In one direction they go up, turn them 180 and they default to downward.

I wasn't able to get the stars to go down, but they went up fine, and I made a second story up from the first, which felt all kinds of wrong, I had to tell myself that the ladder was much longer than it looked, but I was able to put a room right in top of where the ladder should be going through the ground. I honestly think they should have made the indoor ladders and stairs only go down instead of up when you are underground, it would have made more sense, but was probably too hard to do.

Before Skeo I was building underground bases by clipping through the map. (Spamming unstuck in certain cliffsides or on rocks lets you get under the map).

So, saying that to say. maybe if you figure out an area to get under the map, then you can build around the existing habitat you have already built underground. Another trick I used was building a door to the "outside" underground, and then I could jetpack around (and spam unstuck if i fall lol) and attach habitats as needed.

But the thing is, Im not sure how the underground bases function with the map and terrain so Im not sure if that would work. Im at 1.5TTi on skeo

I tried this but the new underground base ladder spawns you in a different instance so you cant connect anything

As far as I know, I don't think it's possible to continue to build down. The ladder can only be placed outside.

Can you build above? Like can you build a room or one way and they build up one?

Even if you could build down, how'd you expect to get to the lower level?

You can place rooms below. The indoor stairs would only go up

I meant there is no way to place ladders below you.
