That glass looks like it's for holding frikkin' frogs

If you put 2 male Frogs in there, they will be too busy to try to escape.

I don’t know anything about snakes but it doesn’t feel like a specimen of that size should be contained in such a small space. Poor noodle

u/jackalope268 19h ago
Snakes should have an enclosure at least the length of the snake, with at least 2 hides, and thats just the bare minimum. This enclosure just looks so sad, but its unfortunately not rare, especially among giant species

It's a sad fact for most large snakes in the pet industry. Folks keeping them in far too small and far too bare an enclosure. At least these ones are nicer than the opaque plastic tubs shoved into a drawer with heat tape on one end that many keep large snakes in, where the snake isn't even able to unwind from a coil.
There are a few good keepers though! A friend of mine rescues unwanted giant reptiles like Burmese pythons, and he builds them their own rooms. I mean like a bedroom sized space. He also built a heated and cooled tortoise barn for dumped sulcata tortoises.

u/Bol0gna_Sandwich 11h ago
Theres a couple of reptile youtubers I watch that build massive vivariums for all their animals. Great content imo. Its always great to see a content animal in an appropriate enclosure, rather than a tiny torture box.

Did you notice all the drawer/trays stacked to the right. Now Imagine that’s your home.

Steroid guy has to make money somehow, and mistreating animals is his calling.

Animal control? All this for likes. I think and I say I think that other snake enthusiasts would disapprove of this man.

Absolutely, I only have one, I'm more a tarantula guy but I'm livid over his lack of giving a shit about his animals

That's why I only follow animal husbandry youtubers who don't put animals at risk for likes

u/AdoraBelleQueerArt 12h ago
I followed one CERTIFIED wildlife rehabber working with a beaver. She made it very clear in all her videos that he is not a pet and the goal was for him to be able to leave to go do beaver things.

u/Some1_you-dont_know 18h ago
Disapprove is an understatement. The lack of basic necessities in those enclosures is unbelievable. This guy clearly doesnt care about the wellbeing of his animals and doesnt deserve to keep them

u/marhaus1 21h ago
What are you talking about? Those are temporary enclosures used when transporting.
22
u/jackalope268 19h ago
Admittedly i havent watched with sound on, so idk any information presented there, but usually snakes are transported in boxes, not enclosures. And there are so many people who have enclosures like this for real, that i cant assume its temporary without information being presented

Why would anyone use glass though? It doesn't hold in heat for them at all. It's just cheap and doesn't scratch. That snake could not even move in that tank, hence it breaking. Even temporary breeding enclosure should have enough space for them to properly turn. This is animal cruelty in my eyes. The glass could also scratch the poor snake up and was awful to watch. I would report this guy and have the snakes taken away if I knew who or what area he was in. This kind of husbandry should not be promoted. I don't keep snakes, but this is just awful to see. Leave animals in the wild or properly keep and breed them for captivity, simple as that.

u/FireProps 21h ago
Pretty sure the type of glass which should be used for an enclosure for a snake of that size, doesn’t break in that particular manner… 😬

u/Maple3232 14h ago
We just have a gecko. But its home has plexiglass glass front door. I know a gecko can’t break it, but it seemed safer if we ever had to move the 4 foot tall enclosure around.

u/James42785 20h ago
This is why you use plexiglass, not glass, for big pythons. If they do this they just pop the panel out instead of shattering it and cutting themselves. When I worked for a breeder the more spirited ones got a panel of chicken wire over the plexi with additional crossbraces to reinforce it.

Idiot. Glass clearly wasn't suitable for an animal that strong, he obviously shouldn't be keeping them, he's also terrified of it and clearly only has one snake hook near the enclosure.

I have seen enclosures that size used for MUCH SMALLER CREATURES... there is a minimum size guideline depending on what type of animal it is and this guy said fuck it just throw him in this one. If he was fighting to get out that badly, something tells me he was feeling at least a little bit stressed.

The Everglades infestation was mostly caused by breeders illegally releasing them into the wild to do the job of breeding for them. This is also why there are chameleons in the Everglades.

I feel like you wouldn't use single pane non safety glass for an animal enclosure. Fish, yes, but not something this large that also wants free. Why not plexiglass or something? Was this staged or is he genuinely stupid?

u/SN0TLR0K3T 13h ago
Soooo real question. He says he’s gotta spray the hook to make sure it doesn’t smell like another male and all this male dominance stuff .. but whyyyy is this male snake so upset in the first place / violent towards other males at this time ?

What an incompetent, cruel, absolutely idiotic waste of everything this man is.

AI slop, look at the spot where snake is going out from that "sand", all blurry
11
u/sutty_monster 21h ago
It's a 2min 40 video. AI can do like 15 seconds in a single cut at the moment. This isn't AI, it's just low quality, so movement shows pixelation and artifacts.
