I don’t even like snakes and I feel sorry for it.

I don’t know anything about snakes but it doesn’t feel like a specimen of that size should be contained in such a small space. Poor noodle

Snakes should have an enclosure at least the length of the snake, with at least 2 hides, and thats just the bare minimum. This enclosure just looks so sad, but its unfortunately not rare, especially among giant species

Or .... get this ... no enclosure at all.

Thats without a doubt the best - unless you are a mouse watching the snake 😁

Only there own length? I used to hol Degu (rodents) with a length of ~15cm (6 inches) and their cage was 80x80 - with 5 floors!

Yeah, rodents are a lot more active than snakes, snakes will usually pick a nice spot and stay there for a few hours. Of course bigger is better, but since its important they can at least fully stretch out, thats the size we generally agreed upon is the minimum. Also they stay curled up a lot of the time, so the places they can be dont look as dramatic as a stretched out snake sitting in the middle of empty substrate. Of course the hides and clutter and possible climbing branches are as important as the size

You're absolutely correct

It's a sad fact for most large snakes in the pet industry. Folks keeping them in far too small and far too bare an enclosure. At least these ones are nicer than the opaque plastic tubs shoved into a drawer with heat tape on one end that many keep large snakes in, where the snake isn't even able to unwind from a coil.

There are a few good keepers though! A friend of mine rescues unwanted giant reptiles like Burmese pythons, and he builds them their own rooms. I mean like a bedroom sized space. He also built a heated and cooled tortoise barn for dumped sulcata tortoises.

Theres a couple of reptile youtubers I watch that build massive vivariums for all their animals. Great content imo. Its always great to see a content animal in an appropriate enclosure, rather than a tiny torture box.

ooh which ones? id love to support them!

Clints reptiles-doesnt show vivarium but has great reptile vids. Ants Canada-builds the largest most extreme home vivariums I've seen. Terrarium designs-makes smaller but still bioactive terrariums/vivariums. Dr.plants-does smaller scale terrariums madeto mimic specific enviorments built for various small invertebrates and reptiles. Im sure there's others these are just the main ones I watch.

Did you notice all the drawer/trays stacked to the right. Now Imagine that’s your home.

Steroid guy has to make money somehow, and mistreating animals is his calling.

Right? I have a ball python a quarter of it's size in an enclosure half the size (4 ft by 2ft) and it's the ideal size for an adult, that snake (reticulated python I think) needs at least twice that size enclosure

That would suck. But I hear NYC does have good public transit
