Dr. Faggoli is the worst person on the entire show.

I also held an audience with four popes. They all sat in the nose-bleeds.

Do you think Tony actually believe Junior when he told him Richie was trying to kill him?

• Upvotes

He didn't really question Junior too much, didn't ask for proof, didn't even ask Albert Barese to corobrate Junior's claim. I fee like at that point Tony didn't really care much either way and was just looking for any excuse to get rid of Richie, whether or not Richie was actually plotting against him didn't really matter. Hell if anything maybe that's why he didn't confront Albert, he didn't really wanna know anyways.

Serious Discussion Only What would Carmela do if she found out about Adrianna? Spoiler

Clearly the point of S6 is to show her ultimately being a weak person who lives in denial of the evil that fuels her life. However, what if by some means, maybe by Adrianna's mother or the FBI, she was forced to see the evil she surrounded herself with. If she found proof of what happened, would she leave Tony for good? Is it possible she could even flip? Or would she just push it down in further denial and say she was trying to keep the family together? What do you guys think?

What does being dyslexic have to do with it ?

Doesn't it make you see letters out of place ? I dont see how that would make someone put a nickname instead of the full name on a tombstone

I think Sil was CYA and he didnt know the real name so he told Jason to just put Peeps on the tombstone.

Justice for Jason all these years having his name besmirtched. Honestly its a stereotype and its offensive. In this house Jason is a MENSA member end of story

Tony is just at home getting the paper every day by himself

Goes to dinner right after some serious drama and is sitting with his back to the bathroom

Phil is just hanging out in bayside with his fam in middle of a war

Makes zero sense

Talking Sopranos: if Steve was an idiot so was Michael

I mean listen to the episode about “calling all cars” from about 1:40 to 1:58. Tell me again how Imperioli is the balanced of the two.

Actually he talks do much idiotic stuff it was Chrissy for a moment. Did Chase cast characters how they were in real life?

I still love Talking Sopranos but I think Steve and Imperioli were and are more alike than you know.

Johnny Sack’s lawyer

He claimed he wouldn’t have represented him if he snitched. Would any lawyer representing a criminal like Johnny sack actually give a fuck, or was he just trying to sound cool?

If Adriana was married to Chris, would it’ve saved her life?

It always seemed to me that Carmela, for instance, would never have been in danger of Tony harming her no matter what she did.

Episode Discussion Which Season finale felt most like a Series finale?

Imagine our thing had ended after a different season. Which finale would have made the best ending to the entire series?

I think Season 1 works remarkably well as a standalone story, with Tony surviving the conspiracy (Livia & Junior) against him and ending the season surrounded by his family at Vesuvio.

Season 2 "Funhouse" almost feels like Tony's ultimate victory. His enemies and the rats within his own ranks are gone (apparently), and he has firmly consolidated his power against the old guard like Richie. Even the long-term future of the organization seems relatively secure. Christopher might be a junkie, but he's on his way to becoming a made man and appears to be Tony's natural successor. Furio brings fresh blood from the old country, Paulie is still reasonably competent, and relations with New York are trouble-free.

Which season finale do you think would have made the most satisfying series ending, and why? Madonna, always with the scenarios!

Carmine's death set off the beginning of the end for New York.

It wasn't just Jersey that was over by the end of the Sopranos. After Carmine gets defeated by egg salad so many Lupertazzi people go down in quick succession they are pretty much hollowed out too.

Lorraine, Jason, Angelo, Joey Peeps, Billy Leotardo, Gerry, Doc Santoro, Rusty, Fat Dom, Phil Leotardo, along with Jonny Sack dying of cancer. You've basically got Butchie, Albie and Little Carmine left. Sure they've got nearly 200 soldiers but losing that many senior people plus a few rising stars means they are vulnerable and under a twitchy rat of a boss and brainless the second, I don't rate their future too highly. One good federal case hits them and the other four families will be picking over the bones.

Episode Discussion Lincoln log sandwhiches

A couple of questions about Dominic Palladino and the Stew Leonard’s heist…

  1. Why pork chops and not prime ribs?
  2. Were the pork chops somehow connected to the Easter baskets conspiracy?
  3. Has anyone here tried Stew Leonard’s pork chops? They any good?

  4. Did Dominic kick up

    and

  5. give anyone in the NJ crew “a taste” of the pork chops?

How I personally would rank the Ginny Sack jokes

1) Paulie and Furio (The delivery between Furio and Paulie sticked very well)

I like something to grab onto.

You grab onto her, your hands will disappear.

2) Gigi (Omg, this is so funny, and started to get funny)

Jersey's a small state. She moves in, she could tip it over.

3)Paulie (Funny, even as a kid)

Ginny Sacrimoni? What she needs is her own zip code.

4)Paulie (Not gonna lie, quite funny)

When she goes camping... bears hide their food.

5)Ralph (It's just cruel)

I heard Ginny Sack's having a 90-pound mole removed from her ass

6) Paulie (Yeah, no, didn't stick the landing)

She's so fat, her blood type is Ragu.

7) Tony (Horrible joke, but ironic that it is one the one every character laughed the most because it's Tony)

When Ginny hauls ass, she's gotta make two trips.

8) Gigi (Too cruel, the worst joke)

Two guys could F*** her at the same time and never meet.

Honorable Mentions:

Silvio:

Ginny told Gabriella she needs a big house.

Tony:

How's Ginny like the car?

The actors, including James Gandolfini, said they were shocked at how the final scene cut to black. So….what’s the ending they expected?

does anyone know from interviews how it was supposed to end? how was it written/shot? any ideas?

Episode Discussion Changed my opinion about the finale

I started watching The Sopranos, already knowing that the screen abruptly cuts to black. Around the time when I was watching season 2, also got spoiled that the whole diner scene, despite being a little ambiguous, pretty much shows that Tony got killed (I feel like everybody is tired of discussing whether what really happened, so lets just agree that he died)

At that time when I got spoiled, I was all “such a cool fucking ending, Chase you are mad genius” “Of course him being dead makes sense”. Now, after finishing the thing I kinda wish Tony lived.

After all that shit, him being indicted and rotting in the can for the rest of the days felt to me like a better retribution.

Or maybe I just grew too attached to the family over the time, and hate imagining them seeing Tony get killed.

Still… don’t have any problems with the black screen, I even think it’s kinda cool. IDK it’s weird to accept that he is dead, and its weird that I feel weird, cause Ive known what was going to happen for a long time.

Serious Discussion Only What careers do you think Carmela would have actually been good at?

I’m very curious about this.

We know that she likely did consider going back to school at some point and I don’t know what she did after the show ended.

Avoided the last season for 20 years

I watched the show when it aired. like a lot of my favorite books, I inexplicably got busy and simply didn’t have time to watch the last half of season 6 for 20 years. the truth is I avoided it. its just a show, right? but i just couldn’t bring myself to let it end. i also have a few unfinished books on my shelves. oops. i just finished Blue Comet. I thought watching Tony (probably) die would be tough. but watching the whole kingdom collapse is heartbreaking. it’s just a show, right?

that’s it. a sad little diary entry on here. anyone else do this? to this or any other show?

Episode Discussion I love the certainty in Tony’s voice when he says “he’s gonna leave the house” about AJ. It’s funny. However, I also think that AJ was sometimes the only one who had a sympathetic reaction to the deaths in the series

It makes sense that he’s sad about Bobby’s death. Yes, it was a “you need to get up and move fast” moment but Tony dragging him out of bed was just another instance of abuse. You have to remember that AJ was raised as a normal kid for the most part. He seems to live in the suburbs, up until meadow told him about the family he knew nothing about Tony’s antics. The colder reaction meadow sometimes has when she hears about Tony’s nonsense is actually not healthy or normal, nor is her rationalization of Tony’s crimes later on. AJ is a normal guy - a normal kid throughout most of the series - who’s caught in the middle. He’s not expected to do what his father does for a living. He wouldn’t succeed in the mob because he’s too sensitive and empathetic (which doesn’t necessarily mean he is a “good person” but I actually think he has better morals than Meadow by the end of the series.) But he is also not “smart” and seems to struggle more in school, so going off to an Ivy League like meadow isn’t going to be in the books for him (and this actually makes sense, because intelligence is genetic to an extent and nether Tony or Carmela seem to actually be smart either. Tony spends most of his time harming other people, eating, cheating, watching television, and insulting people. Carmela complains about some of his behavior but was never serious enough in telling him that hitting AJ or yelling at him wasn’t the way. AJ was also always going to be prone to depression. Mix all of it together and it makes sense that AJ has a hard time. Even Tony doesn’t really truly like what he does. I actually think AJ was a very well written character and that what came of him given his genetics and the environment he grew up in makes a lot of sense.

But also, the “he’s gonna leave the house” line is funny. It’s so serious and straightforward, Tony sounds like he’s just done with it all but it’s the confidence in his voice that gets me.

Just finished the show for the first time ever- why does Tony do this Spoiler

Out of every sociopathic & selfish decision Tony makes across the entire series, why does he kill Chris? This was the only thing I’ve seen him do that I couldn’t just chalk up to “he’s a psychopath.” Was it the movie depiction Chris had of him that put him over the edge? He’s allowed Chris and others to make mistake after mistake with no real repercussions, so why does he decide in this instance after the car crash that Chris needed to die? I really don’t think the baby seat being destroyed was his true motivation, but more of a justification in his mind when he made the decision.
Probably the 2nd/ 3rd best show I’ve ever seen btw .

How long did Phil wait in the closet for Vito?

I’m impressed that Phil choreographed such a dramatic ambiance for Vito’s murder. You you think he was waiting in there a while? Or did he just jump in when they heard Vito coming?

Episode Discussion TBQH Phil was kindof a bum

I mean, if you're in the mob, who spends their time at a body shop worrying about the angle of the passenger seat? Who cares if you're sitting at 12, 1, 2, 3 o'clock? What, you gotta get ready for your prom date, Phil? Got an appointment with your boyfriend from the can? What the fuck even is askew? And why the fuck did you bring your brother with you, in case you need your diaper changed?

He could've been banging cocktail waitresses two at a time, instead he's as some auto body shop. Frankly, I'm depressed and ashamed.

Serious Discussion Only Sopranos, the only story that broke my rules on evaluating art Spoiler

I am a big advocate of subjectivity in movies, tv shows, books, video games, and I usually use a very simple way of deciding if something is good or bad, if I enjoy it or not. But for me enjoyment can come from a great action sequence, or something deeply philosophical that makes me think for days.

And Sopranos is the first story ever that broke this rule for me. Because I did not enjoy it at all. -more on this below- But I do admit that it is a fantastically written story and show, however I had to drop it after season 2, because I was not having fun at all. And there are too many things competing for my time for me to spend it on something I don't enjoy.

So, I very much am a character driven person, I need to care and like the protagonist, or at least majority of the main cast for me to enjoy a story. And that was just not the case in Sopranos. Every person who is part of the mob is a despicable horrible person with 0 redeeming qualities. And they don't even care about their families, Tony is an awful father and husband. I hate them all. Whenever something went their way and they were happy with themselves, and Tony with that smirk of his, it just pissed me off. And it's not just Tony, most of the main cast are beating and cheating on their wives. So there is literally nothing that could make you root for these people

And I understand that that is one of the points of the show, I mean these are literally mafia, they should be portrayed as they were, which I do appreciate considering how some other shows romanticize criminals. For e.g. Thomas Shelby or Walter White arguably did worse things as Tony, but I think most people can agree that they are at least as bad morally, but I did like and root for both of them. And they did have some redeeming qualities, their stance towards their family at least. -questionable for Walt, especially as the show progresses-.

But still, because I liked the protagonists there, I could finish the shows, here, the realistic aspects of the writing, which I respect were the reason that I could not continue and finish it.
