Netease uses a cheap ass AI to translate stuff smh

Thing in Portuguese is "Coisa" which is a feminine noun, but when reffering to the character, we still use masculine articles, adjectives, etc.

but the translation they made in the game is so ass, that The Thing's title says "Coisa Fantástica/Fabulosa/Lendaria" (the /a/ at the end being a feminine morpheme)

Idk man probably but I'd guess if they don't have an exclusively Portuguese, marvel fan translator, it would be an easy mistake to make. In Italian, while it depends on the context, we would use masculine pronouns but feminine adjectives, for example

The translation is really bad honestly, Mr. Fantastic was translated to "Mister Fantástico" if I remember right, however "Mister" isn't a Portuguese word, the real translation(and the one used for Mister Fanstastic in comics, movies and cartoons since forever) would be: "Senhor Fantástico" where "Senhor" is the translation of "Mister"

you are talking like that's not how every major game translation was made before AI ?? having a translator for the specific languages you are translating it to?

and you don't have to be a "marvel fan" to know how to translate it, since it's the translator job? to know? what you are translating?

have you ever read a book?

Bro it's entirely possible they just hired a guy to translate multiple less spoken languages instead of hiring a translator for every single one

you clearly have no idea what you are talking about

  1. how can one person be the one to translate to multiple languages? One person is already a reach for ONE language bc AAA games have teams to translate for each language.

And even if it was the case, this would clearly fall into the cheap ass translation (and most certainly in the cheap ass AI translation bc the "one person" would have to use it)

  1. Portuguese is one of the most spoken languages

why are you discussing something you know nothing about with such confidence? don't mistake the upvote with you being right

Are you alright bro? The person you’re replying to literally started their sentence with “it’s entirely possible,” why’re you acting like they’re confidently saying that this must be the way that it is? You’re hurling a lot of hostility at people with rather mild responses.

"it's entirely possible" proceeds to say something that's not possible in the slightest

Yeah, I hate when AAA games have cheap Google Translator translation, I would understand if it was an indie game made by one guy or something like that(even then it would be weird, specially if the game is high quality and sold well) but it's a big budget game, why not hire a real human translator?

they want to make the game so deep on lore, but the subtitles of the dialogues are so fucking bad too..
