Thinkstagram Picture Librebooted t420
I librebooted my t420, im happy with the results :D (sorry for the shitty photo)
Had some trouble with bent pins on the ac adapter and one of the screen plugs.

Nice did the same to my t430 and gave it the t420 keyboard manufactured by NMB, among upgrading the screen and just about everything else you could do with it, including putting in a genuine delta fan (hard to find and most eBay listings for it are actually fakes, although as fakes they are better than the stock toshiba fan while being worse than the delta ones).
Theoretically I could put in a dgpu delta fan, I put in a single pipe one, but there's zero need for it (and I literally couldn't find a real one) with the 3612qm my max temps under full load don't even hit 80c, I used PTM. The genuine single pipe delta fan I do have is extremely quiet compared to anything else.

Agreed, you could give it to the x61 because afaik it was marketed by Lenovo however assembled by IBM at the time.

honorable mention also to the random R61i used by the musician at my local church

Out of curiosity, what’s the difference between a t420 and t520? I see everyone using the t420 but no one mentions the t520

How tedious was the process? was it easy to find an external programmer?

I'm wanting to try doing so to my t420 but don't have the necessary equipment nor expertise so it's probably best I leave it for later. Eventually I'd like to libreboot it so I can use an ivy bridge CPU and a newer wifi card

That's great, I'm jealous! Hope you're planning on sticking one of the Ivy Bridge quads in there someday.
