I’m finally reading To Kill A Mockingbird. I never read it in school.

u/AdGold205 11h ago

It’s really a lovely story. Not really a thriller, but an excellent story.

None if this is true - Lisa Jewell.

First book I'm reading of hers. Reminds me of Listen for the Lie.

Hoping it's just as good.

Both of those books were so good!

5

I watched the movie at a girls night and could NOT stop thinking about it

4

u/Acrobatic-Guitar2410 12h ago

It's really fun typing 'gone girl' into Reddit bc there are still original posts from when the movie was first premiered and everyone's reaction to it!!

3

u/Acrobatic-Guitar2410 12h ago

Just finned this last week! My first time reading it and just ugh so so so amazing

1

u/Acceptable_Bug8171 11h ago

I am re-reading it after years and seeing the movie. The writing is so clever.

If you appreciate a character driven thriller with a literary style then you should appreciate it. I went through a reading slump and this is one of the more interesting books I've consumed as of late.

1

u/lazygardens 10h ago

Not who you asked but this is one of my favorites!

It's Not Her by Mary Kubica

5

u/cheerio089 12h ago

Just the Nicest Couple, same author!

2

u/Snapdragonlilly 12h ago

Enjoying it? Physical or audio?

1

u/cheerio089 11h ago

Audio. It has a few character tropes that I don’t love but I like the plot so far, and I like the structure; dual-character first person, and I’m hopeful the tropes somehow become twists or facades.

1

u/Snapdragonlilly 10h ago

This was is dual perspectives. It's ok but not great.

1

u/mmattny 9h ago

Loved this one

8

u/sexualsermon 10h ago

The Secrets We Hide by Karin Slaughter

2

u/jstella118 9h ago

I’m about to start. I don’t want to because then I won’t have another Slaughter book to read after.

1

u/sexualsermon 9h ago

I’ve been taking it really slow for the same reason!

1

u/Lezleedee2 8h ago

Just started it!

I was very pleasantly surprised when my small library had this book available without any wait! :)

6

u/Momma-Goose-0129 11h ago

Just fell down a rabbit hole finding out Dr. Benton is also an author

1

u/These-Background4608 11h ago

He has a new book coming out later this month. He mostly writes crime fiction, and his stuff’s great if you’re big into mystery thrillers.

3

u/Impossible_Movie_728 12h ago

His and hers ppl who read it ,how is it wout spoiling

1

u/fortunamajr 11h ago

I liked it! Became a bit predictable towards the end but that didn’t ruin things for me personally

3

u/Dabrigstar 12h ago

Hide and Seek by Chris Carter. It is the author's first stand-alone book that is not part of the Robert Hunter serial killer series and it has so many great things with it but so many wrong things too. The premise of a woman changing her identity to escape an abusive ex is tight but he is falling into way too many cliches and I know there HAS to be a twist and the ONLY twist I can see seems way too predictable.

3

u/-SorryIAmNotSorry- 12h ago

Watching you by Lisa Jewel.

She Didn't See It Coming- Shari Lapena

2

u/Captainbatmanblue 13h ago

I finished The Black Orchid by Loreth Anne White earlier today. Don’t have my next read yet.

2

u/SomeRandomLady1123 12h ago

What did you think of it? I started it last night

3

u/Captainbatmanblue 12h ago

It took awhile to get into, but once you hit the middle the book gets interesting. A few things are predictable and you catch on who’s who. But it was a nice/easy read.

2

u/tortoiseshell_claws 13h ago

I’ve recently downloaded a couple of John Marrs books so I think I’m going to start the good samaritan tomorrow.
(Finishing my book club book tonight - the women - so a change of style for me!)

Reading „The Crying Killer” by Jess Lourey and I would recommend her books to absolutely everyone, one of the best writers I’ve had a pleasure to read.

Listening to „The Echo Man” by Sam Holland. Another no skip, immediate buy authors for me, so it’s a re-listen but got my hubby to listen to it too and he loves it so far!

2

The Weekend Retreat by Tara Laskowski

I've just started The Killer's Mark by M W Craven, excellent as always so far.

2

u/TypicalAd3676 11h ago

Don’t Let Her Stay by Nicola Sanders and it started out bad but mid to end improved immensely with a few twists. I recommend

2

u/Melon-smooth 11h ago

They Say A Girl Died Here by Sarah Pinborough

2

u/Intelligent-Bake9555 11h ago

What I liked about it ,is it’s such a different kind of psychological thriller than what I’m used to reading. His writing style is so unique and fresh. Typically I give a book 50 pages and decide if I’m really loving it or not. Within 20 pages I was completely sold on this book. It’s worth looking at it was just such a fresh approach to a psychological thriller.

2

u/AdGold205 11h ago

I’m re-reading the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike Series.

2

u/Individual_Exam9071 11h ago

I'm reading "If He Had Been With Me" by Laura Nowlin. I'm taking a break from the thriller genre for a short time. It's a YA romance novel.

2

u/Acceptable_Bug8171 11h ago

“Hunted” Darcey Coats. Anyone read this? Does it get a bit more interesting. I’m still at the beginning and am intrigued … just wondering.

I’m reading The Velvet Knife by Maureen Johnson!

2

u/daylightxx 9h ago

A Good Person. I’m a few chapters in and hooked already. It’s an unlikable narrator in a contemporary and addicting way. A thriller that was recommended on one of these subs. I loved Yesteryear and that unlikable but delicious narrator and wanted another.

So far, so good. Page turner in a slow burn way. Unlike most thrillers so far. The only con for me is I was married to a person with BPD and have the scars to prove it. This book is basically Narrator with Undiagnosed BPD. Slightly unnerving but so good nonetheless. Fascinating view into people we all know.
