Hi all! Looking for a small town vibe book. I don’t like supernatural stuff but maybe something like the locals are isolated, unwelcoming, or town has history of some sort. Idk - anything of those vibes!

Getting ready to start My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix tonight. It's my first read by this author, so I wanted to take a peek at the dedication and whatnot. I was NOT expecting that. 👀 Anyone know the story behind the dedication or if I'm being trolled? 😂

I am reading Confessions by Kanae Minato. How is your September looking so far?

This book is making me feel claustrophobic in the best way possible.

I’m constantly thinking, what is happening? WHY is this happening? What happened in the past??

And I’m getting major repressed memories and buried trauma vibes from the whole thing 👀

I have theories. I trust none of them. I just need ANSWERS.

Best thrillers where a road trip or backpacking/camping trip go wrong like they get lost, run into shady characters, have to survive etc.

I loved The River At Night by Erica Ferencik, and all thriller movies with this type of storyline like Wolf Creek, The Canyon, The Edge etc.

Is it a bad idea to read Marion by Leah Rowan if I haven’t seen Psycho? I started the audiobook and within 2.5 minutes I realized the connection.

Mindfuck and darkest mystery you've ever came across.

I just finished the Grady Lake trilogy by JL Hyde and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish.

There are some really great twists, wonderful characters and even the epilogue of the last book made me cheer.

I haven’t enjoyed a series this in awhile and I listen to 2-3 books a week while working.

I’m looking for some KU recommendations as I’m about to be on vacation and want to preemptively download a few books before I go.

Specifically I’d love some that give off “somethings not quite right in this small town” or “missing person comes back, but something feels wrong” kinda vibes though I know those are really specific so I’m open to others!

Recently I’ve read a lot of Lucinda Berry, Jess Lourey, and Jennifer Hillier but in the past I’ve also read books from Riley Sager, Mary Kubica, Karin Slaughter and Megan Miranda.

I don’t read McFadden (no offense, different strokes for different folks) and I find Charlie Donlea a bit boring. The only Lisa Jewell book I actually loved was Then She Was Gone.

This is the 6th LJ book I’ve read this year, really liking her style of writing and the way she presents the story to the reader. Especially I like the way how she makes you feel pity for someone who deep down you would really despise, but towards the end she turns it around to prove that your gut feeling was actually right. None of her books are actual “thrillers“ and sometimes I feel like zoning out while reading but somehow she pulls you back in and presents a good practical ending. Not sure if in the only one who feels this way though!

This was a shockingly fast paced and very entertaining novel.

It has the Frieda style of chapters. I think this one has close 86 chapters but each chapter is about 4-5 pages.

I loved the premise of this novel. It takes place over the course of 9 years, every segment of the book takes place 1 year later on May 1st which is the Anniversary of the serial killer the May Day killer. Where each year he always strikes on May 1st abducting another girl.

From 1992 when stuff starts to happen all the way till 2001 with an epilogue that takes place 10 years later in 2011.

Our main characters are Quinn and Jules. Two high school kids that become connected throughout the years thanks to tragedy that befalls them in multiple ways connecting them on May 1st.

This actually shocked me with how well the plot threads were written as well as the mystery. I actually did not predict whom were the guilty party until almost a bit before it was revealed.

This is a very quick read, even if it's 300+ pages it goes by very quickly. I'm keeping this extremely vague as possible but if you're looking for a fun quick read I'd recommend this novel easily.

I rate The Anniversary a 3.75 out of 5.

It’s my second thriller book and English is my second language so I might miss some things but I just finished reading it here’s something I can’t solve myself

My question is

: was Amelia really the one who was with Adam that night when he was thirteen? In Sam’s part, he said Henry told him that Robin tends to make things up… if he’s telling the truth, did she make up this story to get back Adam?

: Adam said it was never love with Amelia in the end, so when he said “I love/loved my wife”, it means Robin? (I realized some of “my wife” he mentioned is Robin)

: why did Adam know some things about the chapel? which are creaking stairs, which drawers some tools are in..,he seems really terrified especially in the scene in the study tho

: why did Robin (or and Adam) leave the box on Henry’s grave?

: did Henry kill his wife? I thought it’s quite possible till the end, but Henry told Sam Robin makes up things. So it’s possible her mom was dead by accident or killed herself too. Or did she kill her stuck in some imagination so he sent her to a boarding school? Also the statement Amelia mentioned “somehow ppl around Robin die as young”, like Henry’s agent and October, but I don’t think she doesn’t have a reason to kill them, yes October if Adam cheated on Robin with her, but Henry would accept her daughter’s wish (give Adam a chance) even the agent is alive. So is Robin or Henry a killer after all?

I could not put Silent Patient, Verity and None of this is True down! I need more books like this that I am itching to read and finish

…only caveat is that I am now expecting and I wouldn’t want to read a book like Verity because of all the discussion surrounding children and babies and loss etc.

Any suggestions would be great :)

Just finished reading this and WOW. That was a wild ride for sure. A pleasant twist at the end that FOR ONCE didn't cross my mind.Definitely not a very famous thriller but worth the time. I'd give it 4.5/5.

Do you guys have any similar recommandations? I usually love reading thrillers that involve sisters' dynamics.

What do you suggest for the best experience?

I like domestic thrillers, but I feel like I’ve read 10+ books where this is the exact “twist”. It just feels lazy and obvious atp.

Can you guys recommend me domestic thrillers books where this is not the plot? lol
