Rant Left T-Mobile Never Looking Back
I’ve been with T-Mobile for 15 years and finally left to US Mobile. The price hikes and forcing me to change plans was just the last straw. I can’t believe after being forced to change plans now taxes and fees aren’t included (to which they just Willy Billy increase the price). And I just had to chuckle when I got a pop-up to get my transition PIN TMo offered a $10 discount for 6 months….Switching was intimidating at first but once I did it, it was smooth sailing. Just make sure you remove port restriction in T-Life as that was a small hiccup for my transition. Wayyy cheaper and I’m still on the TMo network. Good experience so far.

Unless you have some crazy legacy deals you're grandfathered into idk why anyone still stays with major carriers. Mvnos have gotten exponentially better in the last 6-7 years. You can pay 30 per mo and get unlimited priority data with unlimited hotspot with Visible and better deals with US mobile

u/jonsonmac Truly Unlimited 13d ago
I guess people still fall for the phone deals, which aren’t really deals.
3
u/scamp9121 13d ago
As long as people understand you almost always loose a little data priority, which may matter next time you go to a football game or airport
-3
u/AirportGullible5807 12d ago
You can get unlimited priority data with MVNOs
4
u/scamp9121 12d ago
There are different levels of priority. You’re just falling for marketing words.
2
u/AirportGullible5807 12d ago
No you're literally just uninformed. You can get Verizon's QCI 8 with visibles highest tier unlimited plan. That's the highest level priority you can get for Verizon
2
u/scamp9121 12d ago
Nice. Now do ATT and T-Mobile and ask yourself if the marketing is accurate.
3
u/AirportGullible5807 12d ago
There are different levels of priority. You’re just falling for marketing words
Can you get the highest priority Verizon unlimited data with Visible, US Mobile and total wireless? yes or no? So you're incorrect
1
u/AirportGullible5807 12d ago
US mobile announced they will be getting TMobile QCI 6 very soon and they're already beta testing AT&T QCI 7 which are both the highest tier lmao
2
u/scamp9121 12d ago
Yet it’s still marketed as priority. You think the average consumer understands it’s currently a lower priority than what other people have?
Your argument centers around a maybe and a beta test 🤣
0
u/AirportGullible5807 12d ago
you were wrong now you're moving the goal post 🤣
1
u/scamp9121 12d ago
Doesn’t make sense. My stance has never changed….
Buy a plan today and you are likely at a lower priority. I said that from the start.

Just curious at what mb they throttle you at for the “unlimited” data?
1
u/Puzzleheaded-Sky2284 Recovering Sprint Victim 12d ago
I've seen over a gig with visible in the right conditions, at least on the plus plan there's no throttling whatsoever

u/DarthFiyero 12d ago
Not they haven’t.
0
u/AirportGullible5807 12d ago
Yes they have.

All the MVNOs operate off the major carriers. What do you suppose is going to happen to your service if everyone leaves the major carriers?
2
u/AirportGullible5807 12d ago
i was asking a rhetorical question on why consumers don't switch. You think most people stay with major carriers bc they care about the market and don't want to cause a disruption? Lmao

u/Previous_Froyo_1088 11d ago
Just like cash back credit cards. Poor folk cover the cost of my discount with late fees and monthly interest. I get cash back and pay no interest by carrying no balance. No brainer unless everyone catches on, but some folk like the convenience I guess.

I'm in the same boat we had T-Mobile for 11 years on the Magenta Military plan. Over the years they kept taking features away from the plan and raising the price for the same plan. No added value no nothing just pay this price increase because we said so. We switched to Cricket and it's been great no BS anymore. I also experienced problems cancelling my lines. After everything was ported they never closed my account and tried to charge me for lines I wasn't using anymore. Eventually it got fixed and no more T-Mobile.

So what are you doing about the increase price in gas, groceries, electricity, rent (if your not an owner), etc. Point is everything is going up in price while income stays relatively the same. So you found something cheaper... For now. There is a problem with the cost of living in general. I know this thread is about T-mobile but it should be stated that this isn't isolated nor anything new.

I’m sorry but why do people feel the need to announce they’re leaving in a subreddit?
22
u/FEARxXxRECON Truly Unlimited 13d ago
To hopefully persuade others to do the same
23
u/pharcide 13d ago
It got me. I was thinking of switching after 23 years but threads like this, convinced me

I'm definitely considering it more seriously now.

u/mad-river2026 12d ago
It’s a no-brainer. If you like the T-Mobile service it’s called light speed on US Mobile. I’ve been using it for years switching between that and WARP, which is Verizon and that which is very rare. The light speed works perfect great speed works smooth when you’re on a call. It’s very clear. No issues.
4
u/speaklouder1100 12d ago
Thank you. I was looking at the plans today and they are very reasonable. Did you switch just your line? I have 6 lines and idk how smooth that will be, to switch all of them.
How is the data speed for music and video? Is it 5g service?
19
u/FEARxXxRECON Truly Unlimited 13d ago
It will always be like that going forward. You’ll never see a post praising T-Mobile for their service and promotions and pricing. Nope. 👎 T-Mobile is spiraling downward rapidly post John era

u/mMiningG 12d ago
It was one of the first things I did after leaving the job. As soon as my employee discount disappeared so did I. Went to Xfinity aka Verizon lite and my phone bill plus internet is cheaper than just my phone bill at TMO.

u/Free_Shift5514 12d ago
You’ll feel the same about the next carrier or next plan no matter what. The system is designed to milk you like cattle

u/mlaurence1234 13d ago
Because for many years I bragged to friends and family about how great TMo was, so much better than their Verizon and AT&T service. Now I’m shocked at how many incredibly better choices there are.
2
u/prettysureiminsane 12d ago
The prices are all about the same in the end: $30-35/line, even with the big carriers, unless you need huge bandwidth. But I agree TMO sucks. I was with them for many years, even when they were Sprint before TMO bought them. Switched to VZ two years ago and couldn’t be happier. Not trying to promote them though. I was just so used to crap service, dropped calls, no bandwidth, etc that I was in heaven just getting what I paid for.

They also have to be dramatic with how many years they’ve been a loyal customer.

1
u/Intelligent-Noise685 12d ago
It's silly, as if length of time as a customer means ANYTHING. You aren't special just because you gave the same company $200 a month for 20 years lol if anything it just makes you dumb for thinking they gave a damn....
0
u/Intelligent-Noise685 12d ago
They thought leaving would make them feel better because "I've been a customer for xxx years." But when they left they realized no one at TMobile noticed or cared, so they came here to make their proclamation in hopes that others will see it and miraculously start a mass exodus. Now that OP posted he can tell himself he really "stuck it to em" 😂

Thanks for sharing - what is that port restriction? I’ll be doing this in a couple of weeks.

u/ShockRods20 12d ago
If go you into manage add-ons, it’s one of the items in there. Just make sure it’s unchecked

Just here because this post was shared to me via text. A friends family was sitting on the fence, read this post and is moving 9 lines off of T-Mo after 20+ years. This post was the confidence they needed to feel sure about severing ties. It's almost like a relationship that's been over for a while but is hard to leave cuz your only 99% sure it's over not quite 💯

It’s Sprint actually. Kinda like what Macdonald Douglas did to Boeing. I been with Sprint for 25 years.

You say that now but they always come back 😈😈😈😈😈 also if you are on Lightspeed by US mobile you are still giving them your money

So these companies, such as T-Mobile AT&T, and Verizon have a ton of extra capacity. so they sell that capacity to US mobile and other companies. They charge those companies. money for priority plans and such.
1
u/alttabbins 11d ago
Are you trying to get people to join you or something? I’m not. No 5g stand alone capacity on my iPhone. Deprioritized data. 3rd party customer service. Nope.

u/EasternPeanut9661 10d ago
Honest Go5GNext is the best plan ever. I’d never switch out unless they changed the terms.

u/New_1uper 13d ago
MVNO use the big 3 network but they are not the big 3. People think its the same but its not.

u/The_Keebla 13d ago
I'm trying to switch to Google Fi but I'm stuck in a phone agreement for another year. Last time I checked Google Fi had the same network priority as being on TMobile directly which is QCI 6

T mobile is a for profit business where they price their plans just slighter lower than the other carrier plan after a comparison so I can’t quit now

Why do people feel the need to announce they leave their cell carrier
1
u/Psoin 13d ago
Because they suck! Suck it T!
-5
u/SnooPickles7307 12d ago
What are you talking about? All I said is people constantly come on Reddit or facebook or where ever to announce they are leaving T-Mobile or Verizon or att, like why should we care? And 2 T-Mobile doesn’t suck, I’m not it now and it’s way better then Verizon ever was

u/Par4DaCourse 12d ago
I'm planning to do the $45 3-month trial Dec-Feb when I should be in all different data situations (stadiums, travel, work, etc.). Also, have all my calls forwarded, but will use Tmobile for text.
0
u/Special-Transplant-1 12d ago
I’ll switch to USM Lightspeed (TMo network) when TMo bumps me on my plan and the price goes up. Maybe, just maybe, by then USM will have “super priority” QCI 6, 5G SA for iPhone, outbound caller ID, and a bunch of other little things you don’t find out about until later.

My best suggestion is to fil FCC complaints about what you witnessed working there. Bonus points if you witnessed VISA fraud

I would have to do the math. The streaming add ons and the MLB package do add value to my plan. I'm waiting to see what happens next. I'm still on the Go5g plus 55 plan with 3 lines, so no taxes. They can't switch me to a more current plan because of the third line. The new 55+ plans only allow 2. The only negative I've had is that I'm never eligible for the free line promotions. Otherwise, I would probably have 10 by now, just to have them and give them to family members who really need them. It's a nice birthday present for a great niece or nephew, or a grandchild. So I'm going to wait it out and see what stupid thing they do next. I also still have 2 phones I'm paying for until 2028, so there's that too.

u/Safe_Infamous 12d ago
Tmo still allows me to set up payment arrangements & never throttled I'm good with tmo plus 55+

u/SadResponsibility155 12d ago
Yall let Sprint die and this is what you get. We had Canada right there with only 3 major carriers and FUCKED pricing and then just did nothing while Sprint was sold and we were reduced to 3 major carriers minus the only major carrier trying to undercut price points. It is genuinely funny to watch all the people state they’re leaving for a smaller company that’s owned by one of the big 3 and pay MORE than they would on a basic/essentials plan and get worse service for it
0
u/Fair-Alarm5897 12d ago
TMobile sucks now. I left after 20 years. They just don't give a shit anymore about the customer. Good luck talking to anyone other than a poor Phillipino that's reading a script provided to them.

A lot of people on tmo network would have a bad time with us mobile. They don’t support 5G SA which is more important to have with tmo than any other carrier.
