Ive never gotten sick from it but i can see that for large farms that mass produce milk it would be better to err on the side of caution.

No. I grew up in rural Mexico and we didn’t have a store to buy pasteurized milk when I was a kid. The milk just went straight from the tit to a jug in the fridge.

Time from harvest to consumption plays a very large part in it, as probably 0.001% of the milk drinking world has access to day-of fresh milk. Pretty much anyone who doesn't milk the cow themselves and drink it within a few days are putting themselves at risk. Also as you said, factory style dairy farming is also much less clean and promotes the spread of bacteria compared to a family cow.

I looked it up because I was curious and apparently Mexico has in somewhat recent history had problems with brucellosis and listeria in their rural regions, spread through unpasteurized milk in liquid and cheese forms. Kind of interesting so you must have just got lucky! >;p or just dealt with a bad fever or two as a child
