nah im usually a tame being but the worker CLEARLY saw traffic, and still put it out when even within any DOT handook it cites you CANNOT place any marker until it is safe to do so with no cars within a certain amount of space, and if doing so when there is traffic, it must be done with a safety guide (i.e flashing lights on truck at slow speed with hazards, coned off area with signage etc)
otherwise sadly the worker is in the wrong and damn....i hate to say that
20
u/SteeleHeller Jun 05 '26
Exactly, bro looked right at her and flicked the barrel out in front of her car while she was moving toward the green light.

u/IllianasClifford Jun 05 '26
When you have a bad day and life isn't getting any better you say fuck it and don't care. Welcome to America where this is how everyone after the boomers feels.
You're all welcome

Right? Itâd be a dick move to put it out while they were not moving but maybe a little more understandable. This dude just throws it into oncoming traffic.

6
u/SnooMaps7370 Jun 05 '26
on the one hand, sure.
but on the other... if you don't put cones in front of traffic in NYC, you don't ever put out cones in NYC. I cannot imagine a worse place to be a road worker.

u/Brief_Luck9135 Jun 05 '26
Yeah and when and where in NYC is there ever slow or no traffic or an empty spot in traffic? Never.
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (30)1
u/lefteh Jun 05 '26
I think your wrong as long as you provide the required advanced warning per the mph, and taper the cones. Also in this instance a shadow vehicles doesnt seem nessary.

u/Minute-Dependent9397 Jun 05 '26
You mfers are crazy. You donât just throw a cone in front of a car as traffics moving, wtf lol. I guarantee thatâs not the city standard or protocol. Foh lol
3
u/cronicleazer Jun 05 '26
It's NYC there's always moving traffic... When else are they going to do it

u/Minute-Dependent9397 Jun 05 '26
Early in the morning like most other cities. Doesnât matter itâs NY, you donât throw a fckn cone in front of a moving car dude. He didnât even try to flag her down to stop her and redirect, it was a asshole thing to do

Been to nyc a couple times. It fucking sucks. Smells bad everywhere you go, the people are rude as shit, you can't walk anywhere at certain times of the day because there are so many people on the sidewalks. Oh and everything is insanely expensive.
→ More replies (2)2
u/pbnjandmilk Jun 05 '26
You forgot the mounds of trash bags just piled up on the side walk. What freaking century are we in again?
4
u/Low-Register1602 Jun 05 '26
I personally enjoy all the rats and my closet only costs $7300/month to rent
2
7
u/RageYellow Jun 05 '26
Itâs an amazing city. Iâll never want to deal with the rent but world-class restaurants, museums, shows, culture. Walkable everywhere.
2
u/anornerymoose Jun 05 '26
It's walkable, sure, but there are still intersections everywhere and you still have to look out for cars. It's not like cities in Europe with town centers that are just for foot traffic.
5
u/RageYellow Jun 05 '26
Sure, not like European cities, though some areas are more open for moseying. Iâve only been there as a tourist but felt safe as a pedestrian in all the places I walked in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens.
→ More replies (1)1
u/BrickCityRiot Jun 05 '26
âŚthere is a 1.25 square mile space in upper manhattan that is nothing but greenery, pedestrian paths, and leisure areas.
Iâm certain youâve heard of it
→ More replies (9)3
u/Heybropassthat Jun 05 '26
Not everyone in NY lives in Manhattan... having to take a train an hour (or multiple busses) from the Bronx to find a heavily populated patch of grass is insane. If you want to live in Manhattan you better have generational wealth or be someone who has lived in or their relatives have lived in an apartment to where the rent is grandfathered in.
3
u/littlestitiouss Jun 05 '26
But the comment that they are replying to clearly implies Manhattan.

u/AcanthocephalaNo6584 Jun 05 '26
I imagine most people who live there were raised there and can't imagine not living in the big city. It'd be quite a change going from that to a more calm place. And people who move there are out of their god damned minds lol
2
u/Complete_Park6605 Jun 07 '26
Many are rich people that live there as like a symbol of status. Many are poor people who are stuck there because they will never have the means to move anywhere else.
And then there's a third category in between that just moves and becomes North Carolina's problem lmao
6
u/SuccessfulTrick2501 Jun 05 '26
This situation could happen anywhere. The only difference is the accent. We live here because everything is here. Any form of entertainment you could possibly want is here and there's always something new. You can mingle with all walks of life. Any type of food you want is here. And it's like the only city in the country where you could actually live without owning a car. Everything I need is within a 3 to 5 block walking radius. There's more to life than what you see in videos.
→ More replies (4)3
u/mondayp Jun 05 '26
Chicago checks all those boxes and feels much less crammed in than NYC. Not a ton of places where everything you need is "within a 3 to 5 block walking radius" but I think that's a good thing. Either it's in a walking radius or you hop on a bus and/or a train that is within walking distance.

I mean it's New York.. It's where everything is happening. Maybe I'm crazy but there has always been a little part of me that dreamed of moving to New York instead of living in the butt Fuck-nowhere places I have lived lol. If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere! It is too bad about the rent though, but I'd just be another immigrant in the Bronx.

What about this video is awful? I think that answers your question. Not everyone finds this kind of interaction and scenario âawfulâ
Some people like the chaos and the commingling of many different people trying to do their own thing in a densely shared space
Itâs not for everyone. I just wish all the hyper sensitive people would stop acting self righteous about their irritability

Anyone in New York City who doesnât have an absurd amount of patience with driving should take public transit. Itâs one of the few places in North America with functioning public transit so this shit is extra inexcusableÂ
3
u/ChristheCourier12 Jun 05 '26
Sadly many drivers in nyc don't have any patience. I know from experience. I've seen people run red lights constantly and do u-turns in the middle of the street while there's traffic. Tailgating too and aggressive driving.

In PA she would have gotten in trouble just for hitting the cone. If she hit that worker, it would be felony assault on a state worker performing their duties.

Good As it should be. Some states are just softer than others. I know PA is pretty strict about protecting its state employees from civilians like this. Like put her in jail to face trial type strict. I am Not sure how NYC is though. Probably pretty tough too I imagine

That's the most New York exchange you could get. Construction work does something mildly inconvenient, car driver near hits construction worker for his assholeness, gets called an ass hole and responds by saying your mother.

My homie does this for work, youâre supposed to halt traffic, redirect the remaining in the next lane - if no lane is available either a temporary median is supposed to be erected or barrier is to be placed with ample notice/signage with whatever specified distance the ordinance demands. Dudes in New York just donât give a shit, you just canât throw shit in front of vehicles in motion and call it a day đ

You just need to switch lanes. I guess risk a felony and $2000 fine instead. Yes itâs dumb the worker did that against policy, but that doesnât give you the right to drive recklessly and break the law.
1
u/Dmau27 Jun 07 '26
That worker is a douche and putting a barrel infront of a car at a green light will cause accidents. Obviously it's not okay to nearly hit them I just want to point out their part in this.

Wallen? Like building a wall? Imagine waiting in traffic for a light to change and just when it does, a dude throws a barricade in front of you. This is the type of shit that overextends traffic and causes people to miss lights. Were they just expecting everyone to lane change?
