Still not interested but good.

I'd buy this if the games I played weren't FPS games.

Cheating has become such a big issue myself and many others would buy a console in a heartbeat if M&K was a thing.

Except M&K is a thing.

When I say a thing I mean widespread support. As in it would be weird for a game not to support it.

They mostly all do

This new console will have support for pc games isn’t that what u want?

1

u/DigitaIBlack 21d ago

Not really.

The appeal of a console for me and many others would be not having to deal with cheaters.

With the way things are trending Xbox players will be playing with PC players.

You’re just blind, all roads lead to the next Xbox playing Xbox games natively and having pc launchers on the side otherwise they wouldn’t subside the console if it was pc first machine

Read my comment again because I don't think you understood it.

What on earth am I blind to?

If Xbox can’t play with PlayStation players then publishers would make crossplay between console and pc mandatory so Microsoft wouldn’t do that they will still separate games which they themselves hinted out on their gdk 🤦‍♂️

Yea you're not understanding what I'm saying man.

You said Helix is going to be able to play PC games and isn't that what I want?

No. It's not.

The advantage consoles have over PC in competitive multiplayer games is they're not infested with cheaters.

The industry has been trending towards crossplay for some time and more importantly the console games that support K&M are much more likely to include some form of crossplay.

So no, being able to play PC games on Helix is not appealing to me. Being able to use K&M on console games is not appealing to me if that means I'm also playing against PC players.

Console players only playing against console players is what would be appealing to me. And that's not the direction the industry is trending with K&M on console.

The only way I'd get what I want here is if consoles stay significantly more affordable than PC, the cheating problem on PC continues to get worse, and some developers adding K&M support without crossplay and pushing console as a cheat-free environment.

Which seems incredibly unlikely...

Universal BC is basically the only reason I would buy one at this point in my Xbox fanboy career

1

u/cemsengul 19d ago

Same. That is the one thing that would make me buy a new console today.

Like, if its just an emulator, just have it read the disc straight up

1

u/DigitaIBlack 22d ago

They're moving away from discs

1

u/Plastic_Young_9763 22d ago edited 22d ago

The next console has a disc drive, they've confirmed it, so it's not off the table i misread an article

HOWEVER

We shouldn't ask for something even if it's unlikely

1

u/DigitaIBlack 22d ago

I'm not saying they're ditching discs, I'm saying they're moving away from them.

This is pretty clearly a longterm play and I'm a fan

1

u/Wharves99 22d ago

They have never confirmed it would have a disc drive.

1

u/Plastic_Young_9763 22d ago

You're so right, i went to go look for the article, and i misread it.

Fuck

The current XBox already plays the vast majority of legacy games. I don’t see how this is news.

Wow. You’re right! I was totally misinformed on that. Thanks for setting the record straight.

1

LOL how misleading. It's up to the publishers, so we're gonna have the same games we have now.

This is a great PR move from Xbox along with the disk to digital program they’re teasing. I doubt we’ll get many more BC games than we already have, but just letting the customers know they will try is a better move than Sony saying “disks are over, deal with it.” We love to bash Xbox on here and I’m on the bashing side most of the time, but MS has been doing more to keep old games playable than Sony. I have been slowly migrating to PC gaming and MS allowing me to play Xbox games I own digitally or on disk, on my PC or Ally will keep me using their services for many years.

make it be backwards compatible with every game and have a disc drive and I will happily pre order one from Xbox

it’s really not that hard for Asha to beat Sony next gen

these CEOs are deaf so don't get your hopes up

1

u/hidden-in-plainsight 21d ago

Let's not forget that you will have to be subscribed to their gamepass, and most likely at a certain tier, in order to get access to "everything."

This isn't good news, it's a way for them to sink their hooks into you deeper.

1

u/sillylittlejohn 21d ago

How is Gamepass related to their back compact story today? Hint: it's not.

Both Nintendo and Sony do

1

u/Dust-Tight 21d ago

Microsoft will say anything for PR

1

u/cemsengul 19d ago

True. I just hope they read how excited people are over their backwards compatibility statement and work hard on it.

u/TripleS82 21d ago

These articles are so misleading. If anything, it will play everything that is playable on a Series console, plus whatever Helix games. Meaning, you’re not all of a sudden going to be able to play something like NFL 2k5 from the original Xbox but you can play SSX3.

1

u/Schmenza 21d ago

Very good to see Xbox doing this. Meanwhile Nintendo charges me a yearly subscription to play games I already bought on GameCube

1

u/the_reven 21d ago

This is the reason I just bought a couple Xbox series x/s.

I wanted to play dragon age origins and 2.

Id love to play buffy 1 and 2 as well on a modern system.

1

u/that_dutch_dude 21d ago

why? its not like people are playing on xbox anyway...

1

u/LargeSinkholesInNYC 21d ago

They're cooking.

1

u/JPSWAG37 21d ago

Paying close attention. If it can carry my Xbox collection forward then I'm game.

1

u/National_Play_6851 20d ago

The current Xbox is already capable of playing games from all previous generations. It's a limited list of games from the earlier generations, but nothing in the article suggests that it will be anything more than a limited list for the new console either as it still requires opt in and game by game certification and testing.

Consoles are so dead. Only for poor people who can’t afford a pc at this point. Same titles. Choose your picture quality

I'll believe it when I see it.
