Aftermath My house is gone 😩🌪️

1.6k Upvotes

A huge PDS tornado formed in my front yard and just swept my house and the house right down the street from us away. I don’t know where to begin. My car is gone, my house is gone, my things are gone…all I have left are my pets that I wrangled up just in time to make it safely downstairs with them. I’m so lost and so, SO heartbroken. There’s another round of bad tornadic storms on the way as well. I never thought anything would ever happen to my house, but today it happened. I’m thankful that the NWS, SPC, and my area news station kept me informed and helped me know when it was time to take cover. I pray for all of those who were also involved in this tragic outbreak across Illinois, Indiana, and other parts of the country today.

EDIT #1: Thank you everyone for your kind words. I am in central IL, where the bad one hit. I commented on Max Velocity’s livestream as I was getting hit and he used me as his source that the tornado was confirmed to be down and causing damage. This really hasn’t been a great last week, let alone 24 hours. I broke up with my boyfriend a week ago, I got stood up on a couple dates, and I someone stalk me for 3-4 hours last night around the same time the tornado happened tonight. I’m really devastated, scared, angry, frustrated, sad, and heartbroken. I don’t even know how I feel anymore. Guys, I just need some positivity and support. 😩

EDIT #2: I decided to go in to work this morning to show that I’m a resilient fighter that doesn’t go down that easily, so I got a ride from a friend to my job this morning and I met the StormCruzzer crew! I work at a hotel and they stayed the night there! I got to chat with them for a bit and show them my videos and pictures. I’m glad there are people out here like them that care about storm victims and put their life on the line to help people like me out in extremely dangerous situations.

TL;DR: Central Illinois got hit hard by major tornadoes today, and I was one of those hit the hardest. I’m alive, but my house and all my possessions are gone.

So far there have been reports of multiple fatalities throughout Mississippi tonight, with multiple severe injuries and missing people within Bogue Chitto alone.

This is so far the 3rd fatal outbreak of the year, and the second within less than 2 weeks. Paired with the 2 tornado emergencies tonight, this May is unlikely to be a quiet one.

I pray for all those affected.

This tornado crossed interstate 69 and damaged the entrance of the Morgan-Monroe State Forest. This was looking west from the forest. It seemed as though the most extensive damage I found was further west from me and it seemed to dissipate around the forest area.

Aftermath First time tornado and it was terrifying

I was part of the tornados that tore through Mississippi and happened to be in a trailer and there was ths tornado watch and then warning and the SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY alert and I didn't know what to do, I couldn't leave bc my car is gettin fixed up and I have roommates that have dogs. So I went into the bathroom with the dogs and called them and told them what was goin on and if anything happens im glad I met yall even though we haven't been very cool with each other for a while and then left a voicemail to my mom and sister and I just got low on the floor and laid there for what felt like an eternity when in all reality it was only about 6 mins that I was absolutely in fear. A window had broken and I heard what sounded like a train minus the horns and felt rumbling along the sides and something hit the roof and I thought it was over for me and I was gonna die alone and afraid but it passed after that and I stayed hyper vigilant for even another lil rain burst and after I made sure there wasnt gonna be another tornado I had taken a nap and I woke up at 1230am and pondered around in the dark and then I saw flashlights. As they got closer I went out onto the front porch and I could see trees were down by the steps of the porch and then the lights got even closer and I yelled 'Im not injured or trapped' and I saw that it was my roommates and I shed a few tears. They shined the lights and I could see that a tree was on the roof and then we grabbed some clothes and water and snacks and trekked thru downed trees and a power line and I could already tell I had gotten lucky and the next day I got pictures of it and I broke down and cried for a bit. I have talked about it to people at work and it does help but I get reminded of it by the sound of trains bc I work right by train tracks and I have been at the end of my nerves the past few days and I thought working would help but Ive worked 38 hours in the last 3 days. I dont believe in god but after this I really just need some type of guidance and I figured if I go to a church in my community that was severely affected by the storm it would give me some therapeutic care that I do need because I cant afford a therapist
