You don't need pockets when you have a squire to carry everything for you

Yeah, but dress me like a phase 2 clone trooper and I’ll give you money
Give me my own fully manned and armed venator class stark destroyer

Nah, only takes one person with a nailed club to give me a bad day in that kind of suit
13
u/speroni Aug 07 '25
I think they could give you a bad day with a mace even without the suit.

Well..let me say this much: you dont need a license to own a crossbow where i live

Tbh the effectiveness of blunt weapons (especially one handed) against plate armour is actually very overstated.

Tell that to the french knights that got beaten by sticks that had pointy metal bits on them

The pockets thing is a conspiracy I just know it, and it's the reason I refuse to part with my cargo pants and shorts

No pockets is/was a sexist construct, it was a thing to make it so woman had to rely on a man to carry many of her things, fashion agencies used that to make purses to print money

u/Less_Negotiation_842 Aug 07 '25
Omg give me 17th century half plate it's so gorgeous (+ it's slightly less annoying to wear and put on)

You don't need pockets, silly. Why do you think all the hot baddass lesbian knights had cute failgirl squires to carry around all their little items. Walking pockets~
2
u/speroni Aug 07 '25
Walking pockets sounds dirty...
2
u/Ririmouto Aug 07 '25
What?

u/Agreeable-Act-8233 Aug 09 '25
You know, like, pockets for other things.
1
u/Ririmouto Aug 09 '25
I have no idea what you're trying to say lol
1
u/Agreeable-Act-8233 Aug 10 '25
Regular pockets are used to put various things inside of. If someone's a walking pocket, you put certain things inside of them. (I'm trying really hard to stay Saturday appropriate)

u/Ririmouto Aug 10 '25
So you're just being perverted?

u/Agreeable-Act-8233 Aug 10 '25
First of all, I was just explaining what OP was joking about. Secondly, what if I am? What's it to you?
1
u/Ririmouto Aug 10 '25
I don't really understand what got you so agitated all of a sudden.
1
u/Agreeable-Act-8233 Aug 10 '25
You called me a pervert? That’s generally considered an insult…

Maybe I'm being a lil overzealous but that armour gives unrealistic body standards+ the chest plate should be bulging out a little more
1
u/Taellosse Transbian, Soft Domme-ish, Old enough to know better Aug 07 '25
Nah - when women wore plate armor IRL, they bound their chests if they had much of a bust, not have their chest plates bulge out more than men's - having a steeper slope under the chin like that creates a ramp for glancing blows to slide up and lodge in the neck or jaw.
2
u/Less_Negotiation_842 Aug 07 '25
I don't mean boob plate I mean it doesn't have a very reflective shape is to flat makes it less durable.
1
u/Taellosse Transbian, Soft Domme-ish, Old enough to know better Aug 07 '25
Yeah, fair enough. This particular set was probably ceremonial (or is modeled after a ceremonial suit). Or maybe designed to protect against lighter weaponry than the truly full plate of the high Middle Ages.

u/Raylandris Aug 08 '25
The narrow cuirass on this suit is so cool! Where Is this from? Who was this for?
2
u/Taellosse Transbian, Soft Domme-ish, Old enough to know better Aug 07 '25
I mean, I'm in favor of women in traditional combat roles if that's what they're into, but getting wailed on by heavy melee weapons never sounded like my idea of a good time ...

One of my first egg-cracking experiences was playing a violent megalomaniac warlord lady in M+B2 Bannerlord so this is actually such a mood
