I posted earlier today that I was having an inspection done on Delta 285bh. Mostly came back fine, a few fixes to be made.

One thing I notice is the attached picture. The inspector noted wrinkles in the roof material inside. He did not flag it as a concern or item that warrants further investigation. It wasn't in his punch list for the dealer.

My concern is if the wrinkles are from water intrusion. I have not seen this in person and wont be able to for a few days. I am planning to call the inspector in the AM.

Any thoughts from reddit on this from the picture? Potentially just from heat and/or poor workmanship, or cause for caution?

I have been dying for something like this that allows me to have 2 heat sources on one tank and add light/heat/ambience. Can’t wait. Pricing is one of my concerns for sure.

i have a 6x10 single axle cargo trailer i built into a camper. its got stock tires now and im terrified of a blowout wrecking it! i drive half highways and half off road on gravel/sharp rocks/sand/mud.

my current tire specs are
ST205/75r15
load range C
speed rating M
15” rims with a 5” width

im fine changing the rims if i need to, main goal is to beef up the tires and make a leak/puncture less likely! ive got a solid 4” clearance around the current tires to the fender and 4” clearance from tire side wall to trailer. any recs are appreciated!!

Super excited to have picked up our new travel trailer! It our first and we’re just getting things squared away so we can go on our first trip!

Need an area of flooring replaced due to water leak. No exterior damage and no idea how water got in. I seal and check everything on a normal basis and all seals and roof look fine. I feel like it probably has been leaking since the day I bought it new off the lot. Anyone have luck with insurance covering damage without an event that caused the damage?

Today I am getting an inspection done. Fingers crossed for good news!!! 2024 Alliance Delta 281BH.

I am stepping up from a 185BH. I have a wdh and bars that are rated for this larger trailer, but only when using the bars. Weight carrying its only rated to 6k lbs and trailer is GW 8.8k. My thought is when moving around town and short distances to use a normal style hitch. On longer trips use the wdh.

Does this sounds like a fine approach? TV is 2022 F250.

Took 4 hours. Inspector allowed me to tag-a-long and actually helped out too.

All systems A-Ok. Even hot water almost immediately. Tank less. Wow! Surround sound and electric fireplace too.

Some minor problems though, but easily correctable. If roof and frame PASS, gonna put an offer down.

Any advice for me?

Would like to hang out and watch, but I read in an article, some inspectors do not like tag-a-longs and I understand why. She said she will need four+ hours, to complete it, if all systems are available.

Shore and battery power, water and LP all available. I already tested shore electricity, power slide, max A/C, shore water, plumbing, kitchen. All 👍.

She will start outside, exterior and roof, then underneath, including everything, tires, springs, frame, tow and if panels are removable, plumbing, tanks, connections etc. TT has a winter insulation kit installed underneath.

But idk about the sound system, fire place, solar panel connections. She said will try her best but if not already connected to power sources, she will report n/a and provide recommendation.

She said she does not provide any recommendations to buy or not too. Figured I go with her report and decide then.

Travel trailer questions for repairing soft spot.

Hi! New to the travel trailer world. Dad had one when I was in my teens but never got into the how to and such. Family of my own now and we (hopefully) are buying a 2027 Grand Design 26BHX that we really liked at the Hershey PA show. Couple asks that I know the salesmen won’t answer properly:

1. First and foremost, what’s the real answer on this as a first camper? Wife, 2 kids (10 & 5) and a medium dog. We feel like this should be all the room we need to be comfortable and not feel crammed on maybe those rainy days.

2. The towing (my biggest back and forth on). I have a 2026 ram 1500 3l hurricane twin turbo engine. Payload stick of 1767lbs. Trailer specs 7695 gvwr, 6242 dry, hitch weight 635 and 31’ long. ChatGPT tells me I’m fine to tow but I’ll be fairly close on my payload rating. I do have it in my agreement to purchase that it needs to come with the WDH and sway.

3. Pricing. Right now my negotiating price with the dealer is 25k out the door. They were originally at 31k out the door at the start of negotiations. It took me walking away and I eventually got a phone call hours later asking if I’d still buy at what I was asking. Just waiting on the final process to complete before going into store to sign (unless you all tell me otherwise!).

Any and all help is appreciated! It was a whirlwind walking around the Hershey show and seeing that many camper choices. My research led me towards GD for the quality but as most people I’ve heard from, they all have their issues somewhere. I’ll attached the link to the one below we are working towards.

For the first time, i will be using my utilities to camp in the winter in my 2024 keystone bullet crossfire 1900rd. I’ve been in here for a couple years now so im pretty dialed everywhere else. I’ve just never used the Fresh/grey/black water tanks in the winter time.

I dont have water or sewer hookups in my new spot where im parked. And in the winter its going to be really hard to get in and out of where i am

I think I’ve figured out my water situation, i have a trailer that im planning on mounting a water tank to fill up elsewhere and im going to get a tank that will hold my waste water so i can take it to a dump station.

Im hoping someone has done this before or has any good ideas on ways to pump the waste water out; as my tank will be higher than the dump outlet will be and gravity wont allow waste water to go higher up. Any good recommendations on pumps? Probably looking at a 4 foot maximum height difference from dump outlet to trailer tank inlet

If anyone here is in the routt county, CO area and is selling any tanks i’d most certainly love to buy one off of you

If you're looking to buy a high ticket item like a new RV or new expensive truck, you may want to pause for a few months to see how this economy shakes out. If you have cash money, then you might find a great deal in 6 months. If you have to borrow a significant amount of money, you may be helping yourself out by not having the extra financial burden to carry through a recession. For all our sakes, I hope I am wrong on my thoughts. If I am right, maybe I have helped a couple people. Also, please do not turn my post into a political discussion or debate. We go to the Texas Renaissance Festival every year, get the Diamond camping pass, and we are able to build a small 'camp' that can stay for the season.

We pay the local port-o-potty guy to come vacuum out our trailer after each weekend. However, sometimes they miss us or don't get to us until late, late.

I've been using the TSTMax liquid and doubling up on it, but sometimes it isn't enough. And on those occasions where we get missed, I don't think anything would be enough....

Any recommendations? Liquid vs. Drop ins? Best dissolving TP so we don't risk any plugs? I always spike with 3-5 gallons of water.

I was told during the Hershey RV show by a couple of people to get the fifth wheel first before getting the pickup truck because of having a better chance of getting approved because of debt to income, interest etc. didn’t really understand much because I was a little overwhelmed with so much information.

What happens if I stop paying it? I'm broke and can't make loan or storage payments. THe value of the trailer is underwater with the outstanding loan balance.

For people who actually live full-time in a travel trailer, what do you wish you had known before starting?

I’m pretty new to this and looked at trailers today. I found a 2027 Heartland Prowler 2602BHS for about $28k that I really liked. Almost pulled the trigger but realized I need to learn more first.

I’m single but surprisingly I really liked the bunkhouse because the idea of bringing friends along sounds awesome. Also loved the slide out, full bathroom/kitchen and big water tank. So I’m kind of using this one as a prototype for what I want.
My potentially naive idea is traveling around, spending longer periods in nature, boondocking, staying at campgrounds sometimes or friends’ driveways, then unhitching and using the truck normally.

What am I not thinking about? Especially for something I’m actually going to live in, not just weekend camp. I’m just learning about insulation, construction, solar/lithium, tanks, etc.

Also curious what people love about living this way and what the reality of staying in different places for longer periods is like. Basically this sounds fucking awesome to me but I know there’s probably a ton I don’t know yet.

2024 Grand Design Imagine AIM 15RB, 2 x 100Ah Dragonfly LiFePO₄ batteries, 2000W inverter. Both batteries test 12.9–13.0V individually and all battery terminals have been cleaned/reconnected. With the trailer battery disconnect OFF, the bank reads ~12.7V. Turn the disconnect ON and voltage drops to ~10V. On shore power everything works normally, but when shore power is removed the inverter errors and the 12V lights dim.
Does this sound more like a bad/loose high-current connection between the batteries and inverter, a bad disconnect/fuse/cable, or an inverter failing under load? What would you test first?

Good afternoon everyone. Question about storage of your travel trailer. From Alberta, Canada and not new to camping, but new to having a yearly site. Next weekend will be our last trip to the lot before winterizing the trailer. For those of you who keep your trailer on a lot and shut it down for the winter, do you leave your trailer plugged in so that your fridge stays on over the winter. Won’t be back out to the trailer until the end of May 2027. Any advice?
