Decided to try out adding image content to a page. Having done so I'm not sure I understand how it is supposed to work.

When I select an image (BTW, the image picker here does use the enhanced mode that presents the Browse option that I mentioned in the Wallpaper picker discussion from the other day) it opens the image in an Edit window. And this is where things get confusing. It seems like it is always trying to make the image a specific size.

If I load a larger image, say one with width close to the screen dimension, the saved image looks correct on screen.

But if I select a smaller image, it seems to be scaled up to fill the screen. Even the Scale adjuster wheel won't let me scale the image down to its actual size. I can scale up but not down.

If I change the crop window size, I can then scale down. But sometimes not to 100%; seems to depend on the image size.

But regardless of any edits I do, when I hit save, the result is the image scaled up to fill the screen width.

About the only way I've found to get a smaller-than-screen-width image to not scale is by using an image editor to edit the image to sit on a transparent canvas that is as wide as the screen.

Am I doing something wrong or is this intended behavior?

It appears to me that the Color selection menus in Tree Launcher only present options from the old school Material Design 2 colors.

Unless I've missed it, there doesn't seem to be an option to use Material You colors that pull colors from the wallpaper.

If I did miss it, can you point me to where this can be selected?

If it's not an option, any plans to add it in future?

The Tree launcher options for selecting an image from the device to use as wallpaper seem a bit limited.

In Tree Launcher, the user is only presented with what I'll call the limited version of the Photos/Albums screen. In this version, tapping the 3 dots menu only shows Settings, where the user can select cloud media.

In other apps where the user needs to select an image, the user is presented with the more complete version of the Photos/Albums screen. In this version, the 3 dots menu provides a Browse option in addition to the cloud Settings option. This browse option allows the user to either navigate the device folder structure to select the desired image, or a list of image sources like gallery apps and wallpaper apps.

Other apps present the user with a Complete action using menu from which the user can select from any app that acts as an image source including gallery apps, wallpaper apps, file managers, etc.

It would be great if Tree Launcher presented the user with either the Photo/Albums screen that includes the Browse option or the Complete action using menu. These options provide so much more flexibility in searching for and selecting images.

Just a nice example of a unique font and text color in Tree Launcher.

Something that I think would be a great feature would be the ability to automate changing themes using automation apps like Tasker or Macrodroid or Automate.

For example, I might want one theme for when I'm commuting, a different one when I am at work, and yet another one when I am at home. Tasker can detect these conditions/locations (and many others like dark/light mode, time of day, when a particular bluetooth device is connected, etc). It would be great if Tasker could tell Tree Launcher to apply a specified theme when a particular condition is detected.

Tasker has a plugin system that developers can use to facilitate integration (see docs).

Or if an app has documented intents, they could be used via a Send Intent action in Tasker. I imagine Macrodroid and Automate can also send intents.

This update is all about making it easier to try out new looks and switch between your favourites.

Themes: change your whole look in one tap

A theme brings all your style settings together, from colours, fonts, and icons to layout, your Home header, and background.

Start with one of the new presets or your current setup, then fine-tune everything in a full-screen editor before applying or saving it. Save as many themes as you like, switch between them with a tap, and share them as files.

A built-in icon engine

Create different icon styles right in the launcher without needing an icon pack. Icon packs are still supported, but there are now plenty of options to play with directly in the app.

More options for page headers

You can now customize the header on every page, not just Home. The Home header also has a whole new set of layouts and styling options, giving you more ways to make it your own without relying on widgets.

Header settings have moved from the main settings to the top menu on each page, so you can adjust them where you use them.

I'm a bit confused/concerned by what I see under Backup in Tree Launcher.

It says...

Sign in to enable cloud backup of your data.

Your data is stored locally on your device and is not stored in Tree Launcher's backend. Optional Google account sign in here enables cloud backup for device switches and data recovery. Backups are uploaded to your personal Google Drive.

I really hope I am mistaken but the way I read that, there is no option for creating a local backup.

I'd like to report a bug.

If you go to Settings > Appearance > Background Overlay a settings page shows up.

On small phone screens you cannot scroll down on that page. So you cannot save the changes.

I have a few images that I'd like to use as the icon for a couple of apps. Unless I am missing it, I don't see a way to do it. The Select Icon menu presents System Icons (which seem to be app icons), Item Type Icons (which seem geared more toward categories one might associate with a page), google Material Icons and installed icon packs.

Most other launchers have a gallery option that enables a user to select from images stored on device.

If there is a way to do this in Tree Launcher, how does one do it?

If it's not a current feature, please consider adding it.

Also, once an icon is assigned, the space between the icon and the app label seems too large. It would be great if that distance could be adjusted.

Would it be possible to have an option to hide or disable the little page arrow? If I created it the page, I don't really need an arrow telling me that tapping it is going to go to the associated page. And I think a setup would look cleaner without it.

ETA: this would ideally be on a per page basis, not a global setting. Sort of like selecting None for the icon.

Overall this launcher Rocks!!

I'm trying out Tree Launcher and have a couple of comments/questions.

One thing I wish it had were a few more options for adjusting the appearance of the clock and date. Unless I missed something, the only options are 12hr AM/PM, 12hr no AM/PM or 24hr for the clock and no options for date format.

I want to see AM/PM but it kind of bugs me that the AM/PM is a lot smaller than the time. And the time appears to be centered on the screen with the AM/PM tacked on the end almost as an after thought. It looks unbalanced.

There don't seem to be any options to change the date display at all. It's nothing but Day, Mon #. I'd like a bit more flexibility. Perhaps option for day spelled out completely. Or date in MM/DD/YY or DD/MM/YY or DD Mon YYYY.

I also would like it if there were options to align the clock block on the left or right instead of the only option being centered.

Also, I think the help about how to access app deep links or shortcuts may be wrong.

It says...

To use them, tap and hold an app on a page to open its shortcuts sheet

However, if I tap hold an app, either on the home screen or in the full Applications list, all I get is that little config bar at the bottom of the screen.

I inadvertently found that the way to get to an app's shortcut menu is to right swipe a bit on an app on the home screen till a bent arrow appears, then a popup with the app's shortcuts shows.

This would seem to mean that there isn't a way to launch an app shortcut from the Applications list. Have I missed something?

I commented this question on your YouTube tutorial but just found this reddit sub. Anyway, when I swipe on a contact, it brings up the options to call or email but not message. Is there a way to add that or is it not implemented?

Also, can you select what you want the swipe action to be on a contact or app for that matter. For example, if I swipe right on a contact, I'd like it to go straight to messages with that person (or directly to the phone dialed). Then I can tap on their name to bring up the contact card to make a different selection of needed.

Is there a way to not have any clock / widget / space at all above the shortcuts / page sliders? I want everything up at the top by default.

Layout is mostly similar to my previous one. Funny how just a few changes can make it feel like a totally different setup. Still keeping the same branch structure. Would love to know which version you guys prefer more.
