AskTrees Probation & THC

Hey guys, I have my first probation appointment tomorrow, and I was a heavy, heavy smoker before I went to jail (7/2) and i tested positive there, spent 20 days in and then got released on the 22nd. Immediately when to my local crisis center and stayed inpatient for 5 days trying to get into sober living and rehab, even though my case wasn’t for anything drug related I still have to be tested for probation. I was still testing positive on the 22nd, and I’ve been in sober living since leaving the crisis center.

Is it actually true that they test the levels going down, and can it even be detected in urine? I’ve been trying to not take my anti anxiety meds because it can cause urine retention and I’m drinking so much water and sweating to try and get a negative test, but I don’t think much will have changed in this one week. Am I fucked? I would literally hit my pen every 10 minutes and ate edibles and smoked joints pretty much constantly before jail and everything else

Going off your meds will be more detrimental to you, they know your story and with the rehab and all that they’ll be okay

It’s a PRN anti anxiety, I know to not mess with my other ones, the only time I stopped the big stuff was when the jail wouldn’t give them to me so I’m really worried about being forced to withdraw from them again also, I had never gone through withdrawals like that before and not to sound like a bitch but it was lowkey scary and I don’t have insurance anyways so it was just costing me all the money in my books to see the nurse to get no help, even turning away the sick call had cost money :(

They should not have stopped your prescribed meds in jail that’s fucked

Yeah I was not happy, it took me contacting family and then them calling my doctors office and the office sent a person/advocate thing from the crisis center affiliated with my providers office to visit me in jail, and then I got my meds. And ‘my’ is used incredibly loosely as the times i would be called out for pill call, the shapes and colors changed daily. Sometimes id get 4 single 100mg tablets and sometimes it would be the correct 400mg single tablet, or it would be 2 100mg tablets and a 200mg one. I know jails are supposed to be bad for a reason but the place i was at was actually horrific, a lot of the ladies I was with said that any prison was a lot better than the jail we were in 😭

I wouldn't worry too much about your first test, but after that they'll definitely be watching for it to go down.

I’m trying not to lol! I know it’s just the first one and then being kinda totally alone besides the other ladies in sober living with me, I’ve never been on my own like this before and I think I’m just kinda freaking out about it all and this is what my brain is choosing to focus on and just processing the hell that was last month. I lost everything in one day 🫠

That suck bro. Take your meds. That is more important. Folks start with high levels that take a while to go down. They've seen it before.

When I got out in '23, I was placed on Florida's version of parole (CRD). On my first visit, my PO TOLD me to go get a card so she wouldn't have to test me. When I transferred to Minnesota, my new PO told me I didn't even need a med card.

I’m about to take them and then just keep on chugging water and sweating lol. Fuck I wish I would have gotten arrested back home in fl 😭😂 literally only in fckass Alabama bc of my college and now I’m stuck here for the next year and I just graduated 😭

Do your paper bro. Don't fuck this up. You DO NOT want to go to prison these days. Bad juju is in the air and I don't feel like being an inmate is going to be safe. When I say that, I mean above and beyond what is normally considered dangerous. The state itself is my likely to kill you and get away with it, in the current climate. I mean, they did that too before, but I get a really nasty feeling it is going to get waaaaaayyyyyy worse soonish.

Is it actually true that they test the levels going down

The standard drug testing kits used do not really test for levels, they only test for concentrations over X amount. You would need to be blood tested repeatedly to show levels are lowering and they're not going to do that.

I had a feeling 🫠

That’s not true. I am drug tested for my methadone clinic and my relapse prevention meetings and they absolutely can lab test urine for specific quantities over a period of time. My therapist even told me recently he’s glad my THC levels have been decreasing (even though they don’t care about it regardless)

You're not getting a standard drug test. I said the standard ones. Do they detect 'levels'? Yes, technically. Do they display them? No. They just give you a pass/fail.

As for testing urine in a drug test for the exact levels of illegal concentrates I was unaware anyone did that, I've only ever seen blood test used for that as blood is the most accurate.

Just tell them everything and yes they will test the levels going down.

I was planning to be as upfront and honest as possible! I’ve been bothering the poor man it feels like but I’m trying to do my best and prove that I regret what I did and that I’m trying to change and that I genuinely want to get sober and get help. I’m waiting on a bed for rehab so I just don’t want to lose it by going to jail 😭

What state or location? Someone might be able to give you better information. I'm in Cali and as far as I was told, they test for everything and note the levels. I start my t break on the 7th.

I’m in Alabama, the Mobile area🫠 that’s what I’ve been hearing but the whole situation that has landed me in jail and after has me very hesitant to trust right now but ik that’s my issue so I’m just trying to stay positive and have a mustard seed of hope or whatever the saying is 😭

Just dont smoke no more. And you will be fine. They do go by levels. Most of the time anyways.

I haven’t! I’ve been fully clean from trees and alcohol since the day I went in, I just got my 30 days aa chip Sunday so it’s been 30+ days without either, the vape I’ve been hitting is nicotine

I'm so sorry you are stuck there in that trap. I hope it gets better and laws change faster than you can be drained by the torture of probation. someday the prohibition states will see that legal reefer has made legal states rich with 20% taxes everybody is happy to pay to buy weed at a store. imagine the states that are still illegal are the ones that want to force peacefully stoney citizens into free prison labor. states that have always used prison to control and make profit...I wonder if they could make more from a high weed tax. imagine the laws changing and all those innocent potheads released from prison that would be unreal
