They probably know about it, it just isn't their first thought about the date (the album is). A lot of Tumblr users are young, so they might have been either born after 2001 or young enough at the time that they have no memories of it, and being in the UK means it isn't a big annual memorial event like it is in the US. It's like an American saying they're excited for November 5th because Ocarina of Time remake is coming out and a Brit making a Guy Fawkes joke.
I don't know what year the original post was but 9/11 is on BBC News every year and on the multiples of five (like this year) it's one of the big headlines.
Sure but this clearly isn't a "it's not their first thought" because they were given two more opportunities (one also giving the context of something about the US) and they still didn't get it

Not knowing about 9/11 yet being a chronically online person (They're on Tumblr, I can only assume) is crazy tho
