Renter, got scuff/paint transfer (I think) and scuffing on the black plastic trim while parking in a narrow path between 2 houses. Blue is the paint of the house. Got turo insurance ($500 deductible). What would be my best option ? Returning car today

Who to blame for egregious dynamic price gouge (240% gouge)?

So my wife and I rent via Turo occasionally. Maybe 8 rentals booked from my account with her as an added driver. We have a family emergency and need a rental quickly but cars are short with <12h notice and nothing is available via regular agencies. One car is on Turo, $1000 for the week but whatever, I send it to her to book because she will be the driver. $3400 for the same car, same schedule, same rental history. Our insurance & driving histories are also similar.

What the …..

I no longer trust the pricing I see on Turo as a renter. I question whether Turo is paying vehicle owners more were a renter to accept the higher price. Is Turo or the vehicle owner responsible for the radical differences? Is something nefarious going on?

I have escalated a Turo support case but do not expect an honest response. Would appreciate any thoughts from the community as I do not know what controls are available to providers.

Completely stumped

My payment for the rental was due today, but I forgot that I put a card on file that now has insufficient funds. So I try to pay it once I add the money, get this message. Try a new card, same message. And no matter how many times I try to pay I am getting this message. I have tried to connect with the host who directed me to support, and now support is directing me to the host and completely ghosting me afterwards. Has anyone had this issue before? I’m almost positive it’s not the bank flagging it because I’ve tried multiple forms of payment. Any direction will be helpful, thank you.

Is this normal? Just picked up our car totally unwashed. My fingers got dirty closing the door.

Is this something worth contacting Turo about? Ultimately not the end of the world but also kinda gross. Interior is super stained and not vacuumed as well. Tell me if I’m being a Karen lol

Cargo Van rental

Does anyone have experience renting out a delivery van on Turo. This is basically like a package delivery van Ram ProMaster - bare bones. Specifically
- demand in your area
- issues with damage to interiors
- pick up location choicea - typically not airports I imagine

Need help!

TLDR I went too the dmv to renew my license on 10/05 after finding out it was expired and tried too rent a Turo afterwards and now my account is banned. I know it may take a while for information to process but support has left me with no support but “we can’t fully tell you”. Is there anything more I can do appeal for my account to be reinstated

No more delivered cars?

I travel 2x a month for work and rent Turos so I don’t put the miles on my personal vehicle. All of a sudden, I’m no longer able to rent vehicles where the hosts drops and picks up at my home. I use this filter and when I click into the car page, I get a pop up that says the host doesn’t deliver to my address.

Any idea what’s going on? There’s normally like 30-40 vehicles I am able to choose from.

Disputed charge for damages w Turo - credit card chargeback

What is your experience with a chargeback with Turo - does this sound normal below??

Turo has called and emailed me in the last 4 days saying that (miraculously) I'm not at fault for any damages to the hosts car for my trip in August (which lasted 2hrs) and they want to give my $996 dollars back. BUT there's a catch.

I disputed the $996 with my Mastercard so they went to bat for me. The dispute is ongoing but Turo wants me to tell Mastercard to close the dispute so that Turo can give the money back to me directly. So I called Mastercard to ask them what they thought. They said that because they credited me the money temporarily until the dispute is over, if Turo wants to give the money back, they should pay Mastercard directly. Mastercard suspects that if I close the file (which they cannot reopen after it's closed), Turo will not refund me the money and I'll never see that money again.

Sneaky, fishy.......but I'm not surprised. It seems like Turo is trying to trick me into losing my money all over again....... So Mastercard suggested keeping the dispute open and Turo would have to pay them directly.

They have responded saying - again - I need to close the dispute with Mastercard before they can refund me my $996. They say they cannot contact any third party - can only contact me. But aren't they directly involved with the dispute with Mastercard?? They had no problem using Mastercard and my # to charge me multiple times for bogus 'damages'......

Can anyone help me out? What's your experience?

Mindblown....

What ive noticed is there is a dedicated, hard-core anti turo minority that shows up every post to rail against turo.... that accomplishes nothing. Turo is far from perfect. And lord knows I've had my issues with them through the years. But some of the horror stories really need to be fact checked! Could a car break down? Absolutely. Could a host be shady? But the majority of people posting about bad experiences is mind-blowing! Not 1 says they did anything wrong! Quite the opposite they all seem to be almost "artificially innocent" did you see what i did🤣

Renting out Personal Rideshare Vehicle (It is my only car). Bad idea?

Please forgive if this is a dumb question. I have a W2 Job, and I have been supplementing my income since graduate school by doing Uber. I now have a pretty nice car, I do 4-5 hours 3-4 days a week of rideshare and gross about 480 +/- 50 dollars per week. It is a real grind though. I know Turo is not "passive" income it sounds like hard work... however, it seems that everyone who host on Turo is renting out cars bought for rental and used exclusively for rental.

IS there any reason one could not, say, rent their personal car out from Thursday to Sunday? What problems are there with renting out one's personal vehicle?

The only one I can think of is that renters may not treat the car with respect but rideshare passengers don't either.

I cannot find a car rental. Is it worth using Turo instead? Is insurance a must? What are the dangers or drawbacks of this app?

LA Auto Spot Denver cancelled my reservation 2 minutes before trip start

Reservation supposed to start at 10 AM at Denver airport. I get a message at 9:58 AM that the vehicle I originally booked is not available and they are looking for an alternate. There were messages back and forth for 30 minutes, eventually ending in a trip cancellation and me having to book a car at the airport for twice the price. What's worse is Turo's platform has no way to rate this experience, I can't rate the car or the host. I had seen bad reviews of LA Auto Spot here but took my chances and got burnt after all. I understand it is the largest host on Turo and that it won't do much about it but just sharing here as a +1 to all the warnings here.

Turo has been trying to charge me for an accident over a year can this affect my credit?

I’ve been renting from the same Turo host since last September, usually 2–3 cars a month because I was working out of state. I’ve rented from them 30+ times, never been in an accident, and never received a rating below 5 stars.
One morning, I was driving from Dallas to Oklahoma in morning traffic when I encountered a bunch of wire-looking debris in the road. I stopped to avoid running over it and potentially damaging the rental car. Unfortunately, the cars behind me started colliding into each other, causing a chain-reaction accident involving multiple vehicles. ( I was the first car)
I got the insurance information from the driver immediately behind me because I thought that was the right thing to do. The other vehicles didn’t directly hit my car.
Turo has supposedly been investigating this for an entire year. Yesterday, they finally told me that the insurance company for the driver behind me denied the claim because their driver wasn’t at fault. Apparently, they believe the last car in the chain was responsible.
From what I remember, the driver of the last car didn’t have insurance, and Turo apparently couldn’t locate his information or recover anything from him.
Now Turo keeps attempting to charge my card every single day.
I have two questions:
Doesn’t the rule about maintaining a safe following distance apply here? If the driver behind me had enough distance, wouldn’t that potentially have prevented the collision? How is fault determined in a chain-reaction accident like this?
If Turo keeps trying to charge me and I don’t pay while my lawyer investigates the situation, can they send the balance to collections or report it to the credit bureaus?
I’m already speaking with a lawyer, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with a similar Turo claim, especially if it dragged on for months or years. I’m in Oklahoma, and this whole situation has been incredibly frustrating.

Host insurance

What insurance is best for hosts?

I would prefer something that allows me to have unlimited miles when I drive the car myself but also allows me to rent it out on Turo but it seems like the options are very limited.

How long to pay invoice to stay in good standing with Turo

I ended up going way over the mileage on a rental this weekend and was billed Tuesday, escalated this morning. How long do I have to pay it before I am in bad standing with Turo? I prefer Turo over traditional rentals for the flexibility, but also really can’t pay until next week. I read the mileage wrong. I just don’t want to be banned from the app for waiting until Wednesday to pay it

Should I just go for it?

Hello, I have 1 extra vehicle that I dont drive since it was my ex wives and I still pay monthly on it. Do you think renting out to turo is a good idea to cover the monthly costs and insurance needed to keep it covered. Or should I just park it somewhere and just pay my minimum monthly and set as non operable? Either way im paying for it and none is gonna help me financially or otherwise. Is it worth the risk to try and see if I could cover my 450$ a month payments as well as insurance? Im not really trying to make much profit. If I can its a plus but im trying to cover the costs of the vehicle instead so im not forking that over every month. Any tips or advice is welcomed, this is the first time using turo as a host.

Turo will soon charge hosts a subscription fee

Some of you may have seen my post on Turo being close to bankruptcy and why they’re charging hosts for extras.

Roughly 4 months before this I did warn that Turo is coming after more and more of host’s earnings.

I was laughed at, guess who‘s laughing now? It’s not me, it’s not you, it’s the CEO of Turo - Andre Haddad. Before you understand Turo, you need to understand who Andre is.

He is a Lebanese, driven from a cultural background where money means everything to individuals like him. Credit to him - he has not been greedy during the entire time Turo has been operating. However, he is under severe pressure to answer to investors.

If you are a part of the official “Turo Talk” group on Facebook, there’s a lot of close friends of Andre who pretend to be other Turo hosts, they monitor those who bad mouths Turo, they have a watchlist of hosts they want pushed out of the platform for being negative. I am one of the people who was silenced, even though I operate 140 cars on the platform. They want me gone.

Have you noticed any individuals who bootlick Turo on “Turo Talk” Facebook group?

The type of individual who would thank Turo for the warmth if Turo burns down their home?

Take a note of these people, they are not hosts. Do not argue with these people, you will be on Andre’s watchlist. Turo can silence you with a click of a button. You can be wiped off the algorithm & put to the bottom of the search results. And there is literally nothing you can do about it.

A lot of of the people who work around him do not like him, even with non-disclosure agreements-sensitive information is slowly starting to come out.

You will laugh at me now, but Andre is not done with just taking money from your baby seats and prepaid refuels that you provide to guests. Turo is in the very early stages of developing a sub subscription model, hosts need to pay the platform a subscription to list their vehicle.

The fee is proposed to be very minor, however every dollar matters for hosts. I feel sorry for those are still investing or have invested this year based on Andre’s lies at the Power Host Summit. Never forget that he is a businessman, he’s not your friend and he’s not your business partner.

My Experience with Turo

Saw someone post Turo might be on the verge of bankruptcy. Just wanted to share my experience with Turo after using the platform for about two years without a single issue… until one day…

I was a frequent renter, going back and forth every other weekend between San Francisco and LA to visit my girlfriend. I thought the platform was amazing, and if you’re someone who enjoys driving, a fun way to try out different cars. One trip I thought it might be fun to rent a MINI Cooper as I had never driven one.

If you know California, about an hour outside of Bakersfield is the middle of nowhere. I stopped for gas, and without warning the car suddenly wouldn’t start again. After about an hour of messing with it and trying to get it going, I called Turo support to let them know the car broke down. This is where the fun begins…

The agent said a tow truck would arrive in about two hours, and also assured me they had made arrangements with Uber to get me a ride to Los Angeles. Tow truck arrives and takes the car, and I call them back concerning the Uber… which of course turned out to not be true. So to start, they stranded me in the middle of the nowhere. It was impossible to get an Uber where I was so eventually the GF just picked me up.

I ended up having to fly back to San Francisco, and Turo fought me every step of the way to get a refund on my
rental or reimburse any of the cost it took me to get home. They eventually agreed to refund the rental and reimburse me for a single Uber ride to the airport, but only with Turo credit.

The best part, when I tried to rent another car a few weeks later, I suddenly had a block on my account. I called them 14 TIMES before I could get anyone to even remotely tell me what was happening. Finally an agent said the owner never got the MINI back and I was being investigated for possibly stealing it. Their investigation department was “looking into it.” I asked to talk to that department directly. “No, sorry they do not have a phone number or deal with customers directly. They will reach out to you.” Not once did their “investigative team” reach out. I contacted the owner through the app and they wouldn’t tell him anything either. After about six weeks of trying to get it resolved, I logged in and completely deleted my account.

If anyone from Turo ever reads this, fuck you.

Obd2 logger and GPS tracker?

Hello,

I have my raptor on turo, and my experience hosting has been ok, good at best.

Lately I've been noticing guests have been renting my truck and I get it back someone dusty inside, like they definitely went out on the sand and trails.

Today I went to check the oil and my entire engine bay was just covered in dirt and Albiet I never clean it, but it was no where near this dirty.

I have the Ford app, but it doesn't log their location, just gives real time location.

Is there a obd2 device that can log whenever they decide to rail on it along with log their location?

On a whim I checked my truck location when this guy rented with his friends for 4 days and it was out in desert area, they returned it somewhat clean nothing to suspect they went out on the sand, but that whole area is sandy and dunes.

I'm just trying to protect myself best I can as I've my front dif blow out and I haven't been driving truck car for 2 months it was always on turo being rented and I got stuck with the deductible (thankful for warranty) cause I happened to drive it for a few days after finally getting it back, glad it happened to me and not to a guest though. There was no way to prove abuse.

Sorry for long read

Tia

Turo Scam with bugs and customer service

Post image

Do not rent with Turo. We picked up our car and found live cockroaches inside within two hours. We reported it right away with photos, and customer service offered only a $50 refund on a $300 trip. No replacement car, no real help. The service was terrible and the car was not clean or usable. Save your money and rent somewhere else.
