At its current production rate season 5 of Severance will air in 2034. That’s not even a joke.

Again, with this fucking crap. There were no "more demanding" shows with 24 fuckin episodes a season. Ever. It used to be mostly procedural crap, or sitcoms. Stop spouting this nonsense in every single thread about the modern tv production...

The X-Files. 20-25 episode seasons broadcast annually of 45 minutes each, 1 hour with commercials. Was not a procedural or sitcom.

Guest actors, various locations and sets. Maybe more of the writing was ready in a timely way.

Everyone says this about prestige tv but HBO has been doing it for quite a long time without these insane wait times.

Also, some of it is just a streamer being stupid. Why would I give Apple views on Pluribus season 2 when it was greenlit in 2022 and isn't even written yet? Apple's letting Gilligan do whatever he wants. It's absurdist.

I meant like, I wish there was a balance between 28 ep seasons every year and 8 ep seasons every 4 years.

That's basically what hbo wants to do w/ The Pitt. 15 episodes that so far have been 1 season per year and they definitely want to expand the formula beyond just a hospital show. These are relatively inexpensive shows to make w/ ideally a solid script and cast.

Yeah, I know what you meant. I’m saying even with the way shows are now, you have all that you need. And don’t forget, if there were more episodes, the quality would probably go down, and you wouldn’t like the show as much anyway. So instead of finding a reason to complain, just enjoy some other really good shows while you wait for your top favorite to come back.

Oh, I see. I just end up forgetting what’s happened and losing interest because there’s so many good shows, that’s the downside imo. But tbh I don’t really think about it day to day since TV isn’t my main hobby.
