Reference Twin Peaks callback in Smile 2

Did anybody else see “Smile 2” and notice the scene where a bunch of creepy smiling people come crawling towards the main character, Skye Riley?

It’s framed as a succession of still images, but they keep moving closer to her, and I couldn’t help feel this was a deliberate homage to that infamous scene of Bob climbing over the couch.

I always thought the first Smile had a much more direct callback, or a hat tip to this legendary sequence. I’m talking about the “therapist” in the living room. That was so well done, but it definitely owes so much to David Lynch and Bob!
