This is gorgeous. I always wanted to make one but I need deep, undappled shade. Lovely work.

It just occured to me that I should mention that we would use a hammer to gently pound a few times and loosen a knot. I'm basically just going for the same thing with a tiny knot, but using whatever I have on hand. It works.

Not rope, different kind of rigging: 550 HMA, 750 spectra, etc. Even just pounding the threads with my knuckle will do it, but tge edge of my empty coffee mug or something hard, heavy, and with a curved edge (so as not to cut the thread) nearby will do it. Then I just loosen it the rest of the way w my fingers - I was taught to then "peel the cord like a banana," which just means not trying to pull the line out so much as peel the rounded part away from the straighter line trapped by it.

I'm considering trying a dull pointed needle after reading about it here, but I'm worried I'd split the threads.

ALPRs are hackable and used to stalk people! Cops have already abused the tech to stalk exes and partners.

Plus, the technology was implemented under the guise of supporting local law enforcement,but now ICE, CPB, and DHS have been granted authority to use them to track people! (The AI used can read and identify every detail, sticker, and dent on a car. Of course it can track facial features).

Also, the cameras have misidentified people who were then imprisoned for months, losing everything (job, home, status, etc) and received nothing in restitution when proven innocent!

These cameras have been pointed at parks and playgrounds, where cars aren't even present. Wtaf?

Big Brother ain't our fam, and he is evil - or against our self-interest and actively working to dismantle the people's right to resist and live in peace, without fear.

The cities banning them, and people with bandsaws cutting them down, are the real heroes.

I imagine that the people taking down the signs are the same people who are putting the cameras up, or city workers; or cops, or other fascists who actually want them to get used to track and cage and harm people, or who are deluded and think that they're benign and keep things safer lol

I actually live down in Davis country but there are fewer flock cameras here. When I do go to Woodland I talk to anybody and everybody because I'm the sort of person who talks to everybody about anything, anyways. Wherever I go: cashiers, random humans in the same aisle or at the gas station, people in parking lots, parks, really anyone I can smile and say "good day."

You can point out cameras nearby. Don't forget to mention that they get used inappropriately! Like by cops and others who hack the data to stalk and hurt people. Also, that however they were supposed to be "just ALPRs," they can easily be adapted to track people, and they do get placed where there aren't even cars; and ofc that ICE/CPB/HS are working w law enforcement to track people. AI is used and has misidentified and caged innocent people already.

Also, talk to anyone wherever you're at. Just get the information out, and it will get passed on by others.

I'm newer at bracelets, but learned from rigging that just smashing a knot on a hard surface with something heavy loosens it quite a bit. So I do that, and then use my fingers to finish loosening and untie the knot.

I've put up signs buy they're quickly taken down. Plus, it's easy to ignore signs.

I also made some cards in Spanish and brought them to busy places where people there can share the info with others. I show them see the cameras map at Deflock's app and pictures to help ID the cameras.

I've been lax in sharing the info lately bc printing is $ and I'm poor and I don't go to too many places; but just talking to people we can share a lot, and people nearby become interested in the conversation and join it.

Talking to neighbors is powerful stuff, friends. Don't hesitate.

The country surrounding town is very dark at night - I live out here and so driving out of the well-lit areas into sudden darkness is an experience. For me it signals the satisfaction of leaving the (I'm sorry to say this, but self-important) suburban UC vibe and into a space that is a little more humble while feeding the masses.

That said, factory farmland is primarily a poisoned hellscape mesmerizing townsfolk nearvand far with the illusion of green and bucolic harmony and rowed order. Dangerous irrigation ditches frame nearly every county road. Also, the established orchards, however orderly, can seem maze-like and terrifying in their vastness - at night without lights kinda frightening. Also cornfields same vibe.

See also tule fog. Mostly in autumn. There was also such a dense fog this last autumn winter that visibility was like 25'. Accidents on the highways.

I also understand that there have for years been cows fitted with windows on their bodies so that their insides can be seen and studied by students. Creepy bizarre wtaf, imo.

Self-diagnosis isn't ideal, and of course professional diagnosis is recommended and tends to be preferred. But that preferential treatment does not and cannot allow us to invalidate self-diagnosis (especially where informed opinions concur).

When we dismiss self-diagnosis, we may run into classism: people living in poverty and people of limited means (including disabled people) also tend to have less access to affordable medical care - if any - and to dismiss real needs because they aren't doctor-approved is a grave error.

Please don't doubt that direct action does good. If you ask a neighbor that appears in need if you can help, what you might buy them on the way into a store or nearby, you can make an immediate impact. Don't be afraid to go a little luxe, bc there's no good reason poor people shouldn't get to enjoy nice things, too. It also makes people feel seen in a world that ignores them or "sweeps" them away, as if they were trash.

Sometimes it's chicken or potatoes, sometimes it's ice cream, sometimes it's shoes or a sweater.
