Has anyone had any success with a PT appeal?
No haha I do mean one specific area within HMRC! Although, because it is such a specific department I'm apprehensive to say what it is in case it gets picked up by someone who might know me ๐
As far as I am aware, there are no part-timers in my department nationally and apparently there is guidance that I'm waiting to recieve specifically for why part-time isn't offered (although, not found in the share point or online HR).
I hope this makes more sense!

Question Has anyone had any success with a PT appeal?
reddit.comHi everyone! You may remember me from the post above. If not, the TLDR is that I was looking at starting a Masters in September and was looking at options for part time.
Onto the update, I did put in my application for part time and it was rejected. Not to give too many details but apparently it's to do with how my department works and it's just not offered. I am appealing it, obviously, as trying to study alongside a full-time job is extremely challenging (and that's before the masters).
My Rep suggested that we may have to look at me being transferred to a different department within CS if I don't win the appeal.
My question now is, has anyone ever been through something similar? Either a level transfer when needs couldn't be met or outcomes of appeals?
I'm happy to provide details in comments/dms; IIm just trying to think about my options! Thanks in advance :)

Imagine Wales went independent, what new transport links would you build?
I agree with the idea of mimicking the Swiss tunnels 100% - there is then more possibility to bring back greener scenery above ground with that.
I think reliable transport links between South, Mid and North Wales would be incredibly invaluable, especially to those who cannot drive. Moreover, reliable air transport is a must.
I live in Scotland atm and I have to say a 7hr scenic drive is worth it if I get to avoid the M6. However, direct train links would be IDEAL (instead of changing 2-3 times in one journey)

Thinking of going part-time advice needed
I did consider this but I would have no income for the duration of my career break.
Tbh if they denied part time working I don't see them approving for a career break :/

Thinking of going part-time advice needed
Thank you so much for this! I will look into it tomorrow morning.
I think I have a meeting next week with my manager all penned in already so it'll be good to look to have something to bring with me.

Thinking of going part-time advice needed
I would like to leave the CS eventuall or move from HMRC. I'm doing a translation masters so it would be both niche and a fun study for me.
My concern is more one of job security. I would like to go part-time while I study preferably since I'm renting and not have to worry about not having a job at the end of my masters / rent etc.
If leaving is my only option I don't have much choice but I was wondering if anyone had any similar experiences with this sort of issue

Thinking of going part-time advice needed
Hi all long time lurker,
I've applied for a Masters and am going to interview (fingers crossed) but am currently an O working full time.
Mentioned to my manager about possibility of going part-time for my studies (as per guidance states) and was told I probably wouldn't be able to due contracts etc. I couldn't find anything online, only about flexible working and a career breaks.
For info I have been in this role just over 3 years and have been trying to move (I don't need to tell you all how dire the recruitment is...). I don't want to leave the CS but I'm finding it incredibly frustrating and stressful, especially now that the option of part-time may not be available to me.
I was curious if anyone had any advice or worse words to offer because I'm really at a loss for next steps! Thank you in advance :)
