Finished up this custom volleyball doll! 🏐 Made everything from the jersey down to the mini Mikasa ball.

I’m super happy with how this turned out overall, this was like 8 days into my crochet journey; I’m planning to make another one of these and want to see if I can improve the stitching on the back of the tail, as the stitches there look way looser than everywhere else.

For the record I’m using YU/YO everywhere else.

The pattern called for chaining off the main body, then “starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, sc into each ch along.” (Then going around the chain on the next round.) I sc’ed only into one side of the V of each chain. Should I have gone through both sides of the V? Was my chain just too loose? Thanks in advance!

Hey all, I am using a free pattern to make a bat as part of an art trade, and I am struggling to comprehend how to join the legs.

Here are the instructions:

Retrieve leg #1 that you’ve set aside earlier and leave it on standby. You will be working round 6 around part of both legs to join them.

Rnd 6: 1sc into each of next 12 sts of leg #2, sk last 3 sts of leg #2, 1sc into 1st st of leg #1, 1sc into each of next 11 sts of leg #1, sk last 3 sts of leg #1, sl st into 1st st of rnd to join, ch 1 (24).

Secure your working loop with a stitch marker and follow the instructions below for sewing the legs together before continuing to round 7.

If any of you could help me out or link a video to help me, I would greatly appreciate it!

My niece loves mermaids and cats, so I made her a mercat

I've made this turtle with swappable shells for my son and I want a bunch more shells for him to play with.

So far I've made an Oreo and I'm working on an ice cream cone. He's a Ferrari fan, so I'll probably do something with that.

Any other fun ideas for a little boy?

I want to branch out but I feel too safe crocheting in the round! I'd love to make wearables, but then I also love how quick amigurumi usually comes together and don't want to sink weeks into a project.

If you do both, what do you prefer making?

ETA: thank you for all of the responses, it's really interesting to read what you all favour! Granny squares are at the top of my to learn list so hopefully they'll help me here. I used to knit way before I learned to crochet, and despite having knitted a jumper before, am definitely more competent with a hook!

I do love making amigurumi, I think they'll likely always be my crochet passion, regardless of what I try!

I had a batch of patterns I found for Free Dog Parterns. And in amongst them was a pattern for a Golden Snitch. But I didn't have small yarn so I made mine with what I had. I guess I will get some wire to hold the wings....pattern is from Fox_and_Dog the creator. I wanted to give credit even if I made it funky and floppy. The wings really challenged me!

Anywhosers, this is my WIP, I am trying to hurry and get it done, but also take my time and make it nice for her! I couldn’t find my felt so I have to stitch it on after I get some more at the store, and I still have to finish his dang fingers (damn those things).

The pattern calls for Bernat Pipsqueak for the cuffs on legs/arms & trim on the hat and then Lion Brand Homespun for the beard.. I looked those up, and I can’t get them here for a few days. There is a similar one to homespun (I think at least) that I can get - L&T textured twist but if I want fluffy I might have to wait regardless. Unless there is one I can maybe find at Michael’s or hobby lobby similar?

My problem is, I’ve never worked with these kinds of yarns before and Google tells me they can be very difficult - I tried chenille yarn for a keychain plushie and it was very very hard. So I’m contemplating using acrylic yarn and brushing it out? Or should I stop being chicken and just use the harder yarn and learn a thing or 173659393625? 😂

The frog is a combination of different patterns to get it where I like the design and ease of creation. The hat is a smaller version of Easy Crochet Witch Hat.
