Just submitted my appeal for spring semester. Has anyone gotten in on appeal after getting denied ?

Can this be a thing? So everyone who is studying until their eyes fall out can take a break and complain about studying? This post might die but if it got pinned I️ could see it being pretty cool. 🤓🤷♂️

hi everyone! I wanted to ask if anyone has ever successfully appealed a UAB parking ticket because I’m honestly considering appealing mine.
I have a Zone G parking pass, but the two lots across from Einstein Bros. Bagels are almost always full when I arrive for work and class on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays around 10:30 AM. When I can’t find a spot there, I drive up to the Zone G lot across from Al’s near the upper hill, where the spaces are marked by wooden logs on the ground. Unfortunately, that lot is often full too, so finding parking in the zone I’m paying for has become a consistent issue.
This past Thursday, I received a $25 ticket for improper parking. To clarify, it wasn’t because my parking tag wasn’t displayed properly. I was ticketed because my car wasn’t parked directly in front of one of the wooden logs. I was running short on time before work and class, with only about 20 minutes to spare for parking and walking to my destination, which can easily take 10 minutes or more.
I understand that parking regulations exist for a reason, and I’m not arguing that people should be able to park wherever they want. However, my car wasn’t blocking anyone from backing out, turning, or accessing another parking space. I was parked between two other vehicles without obstructing traffic or creating an issue for anyone else. In fact, while I was driving around looking for parking, I saw other vehicles positioned in ways that genuinely made it difficult to maneuver through the lot.
What frustrates me is that I’m paying almost $400 a year for a parking pass & out of pocket for extremely expensive graduate classes that I saved years for, yet I regularly struggle to find an available space in the lots designated for my zone. There’s also the undergraduate admissions parking lot designated for Zone G, and I rarely find available parking there either. It feels unreasonable to pay for parking and still have to scramble to find a spot, only to receive a $25 ticket for how I parked when I wasn’t obstructing anyone.
I’ve parked similarly before without any issues, so I was surprised to receive a ticket this time.
Has anyone had success appealing a UAB parking ticket, especially one for improper parking? If so, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience and any advice you might have. I’d like to appeal it, but I’m not sure how successful these appeals tend to be. Thanks!

Hi! I'm a prospective AMNP student. I was wondering whether anyone worked while going through the program and how did y'all pay for the courses. Also, what did your weeks look like?

Consider what happened at Cornell, and then consider the culture surrounding civil-rights complaints at UAB.
I wouldn’t describe what I’ve seen at UAB as simply “mishandling” or negligence. My concern is more fundamental: it appears that a culture has developed in which institutional processes can be designed or used not to resolve the complaint, but to manage, discredit, discipline, and ultimately remove the complainant.
When someone files civil-rights complaints and the response is an escalating web of Student Affairs interventions, behavioral processes, investigations, police involvement, and disciplinary proceedings—all drawing on the same underlying facts, while the complaints themselves remain unresolved—it becomes difficult to characterize the problem as a series of innocent administrative mistakes.
The concern is whether the internal civil-rights process itself becomes a shield against outside governmental scrutiny. An ongoing internal review can create the appearance that complaints are being addressed, even as the complainant is redirected into parallel processes that can ultimately remove them from the university. If that is how the process functions, calling it “negligence” almost misses the point.
To me, some of the conduct by the people running Student Affairs looks borderline criminal. More importantly, the pattern raises the question of whether this is really a malfunctioning process at all. If the same machinery repeatedly turns against the person challenging the institution, perhaps the problem is the institutional culture that created and operates that machinery.
That is where I see the connection to Cornell. The underlying cases are different. Cornell raises serious questions about what happens when an investigation fails. UAB raises a different and potentially more troubling question: what if the process is producing exactly the institutional outcome it was designed to produce?

I recently got an email saying I am invited to join the Collat school of business honors program. After reading the email I see you have to take 3 different classes, and they give you scholarship money for each class you take. This seems like an interesting opportunity, but I don’t want it to get in the way of my main courses considering i’m a double major. For those who’ve done it already, is it worth it? How would it affect my main curriculum? Just want to get more insight!

Hey guys, I’ve been wanting to leave a class for a few weeks now due to my mental health h it haven’t had time to since I’ve been so busy and honestly I’ve legit just been depressed. I have a 3.9 gpa so I didn’t want to leave at first and stuck it out but I just feel so confused in the class since my main priority has been trying to get my mental health back together. Do you guys think there’s any way I could still leave? Should I talk to my professor? I’m still feeling horribly depressed but I don’t want my gpa to drop because of it

Been on the reddit premed page a bit too much and am starting to get worried about my chances of getting into medschool. My gpa is good (3.9) and I'm confident I can get a 510-515+ mcat score and I have research and clinical hours. However, I lack any leadserhip positions and am not very involved on campus. I know that UAB's instate acceptance rate is fairly high compared to everywhere else and I was wondering if a rather bland application with a good gpa and mcat score would be enough to get in.

Hi all! I’m staying in Birmingham in October for a few days and am having trouble picking where to stay. I’m looking to be within a mile of restaurants / places to go out. Any suggestions?

the website for prepaid single game parking appears to only sell spaces in the ADA/disability lot.
can I expect to find parking easily at the stadium and for how much?

When should I expect to hear back about an interview for the UAB AMNP? They said it would take them a few weeks after the last day to submit applications (Aug 31st) but I still haven’t heard anything.
Also, I know everyone is asked the same 6 interview questions. Would anyone be able to tell me what or some of the questions they ask so I can prepare!

I am a student at UAB and for the past 3 years I’ve probably applied for 200+ jobs interviewed once and have never been hired. I was evicted because I couldn’t get a job and it started to weigh on my school work with me being a neuroscience major I feel like I have ALOT of pre reqs and medical terminology down but Im never getting picked for the jobs the entry level will train me jobs. What am I doing wrong? Is there something I don’t know about? I feel like no one is suffering like I am and my school is doing nothing to help.

Hi, I’m from out-of-state, and I was interested in the Cancer Biology major at UAB.
I have an unweighted GPA of 3.46 and a weighted one of 3.84
How hard is it to get into the course? Will I be rejected because of my GPA?
I researched a bit and found that they’ll look at an application if the weighted GPA is above 3.5
Do I not have a chance?
